[uportal-dev] Acegi & uP3

So one of the tasks I was really hoping to get in to uPortal 3.0 was removing security.properties and related classes and replacing it with Spring-Security (Acegi). Scott B. and I did some looking at what would be involved with this and ran into an issue with Acegi that we couldn't find a consistent way to hook into Acegi for generating the UserDetails object. There is one way that most AuthN code uses and then LDAP does something very different.

If there is a developer out there that is fairly comfortable getting to know the existing uPortal security code to the point where they could replace it with Acegi and cause minimal repercussions through the rest of the framework I would be _very_ appreciative. I think Scott would still have some time to assist on with the Acegi knowledge that would be needed and I would have some time to help as well.
