+1 for search engine friendly URLs
+1 for human readable URLs

In Liferay Enterprise Portal there are communities. Each community can be given a separate user friendly url prefix. (/communityname). Then there is a whole tree of pages and subpages visible in each community and each and everyone of them can be optionally given a friendly name (like /pagename).
The whole name goes for example like this:
/guest/departments/it/staff
If any page does not have a friendly name, it is presented via the page id.

Portlets in each page don't have direct url-s

Also several other portal frameworks have the option of setting up user-friendly names.

And another thing. In order for uPortal to be really search engine friendly it must be able to work without cookies, at least for the guest page layout. Otherwise it goes to an endless redirect loop, and Google does not see it.
