That said, we try to continue patching and releasing of older versions as long as we can. The jump to 3.0 resulted in a drop off of patching on the 2.x releases. The reason for this is with the code reorganization that happened between 2.x and 3.0 made back-porting patches very difficult. Now that we're focused on uPortal 3 which has a project structure and build system that is easier for the developers to work with back-porting patches has proven to be very easy and as long as it remains that way we'll continue to patch 3.0 and 3.1 and cut releases of these versions. I would easily assume that 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 will continue receiving patching for at least 2 more years. I'm grouping those three releases as they have fairly similar code bases which makes patching all three not much more difficult than just patching one.
For 3.3 we're hoping to have a M1 release that can rendering JSR-286 portlets before the spring conference. A full release though is likely 6-8 months out at a minimum (with a lot of uncertainty involved in that guess).
I hope that helps! -Eric On 1/23/10 10:44 AM, Patrick Turcotte wrote:
Hi, We are doing some planning here and I was wondering about the following : 1) Until when is UP3.2 going to be supported after it comes out? 1 year, 2 years? 2) With all the uncertainty it can entail, when is UP3.3 supposed to be released? Many thanks, Patrick Turcotte
