Has anyone evaluated or implemented uPortal on Ubuntu for production?
We currently run uPortal and CAS on Solaris, but our Ops team is struggling to keep the OS patched due to limited resources. All the developers use Ubuntu and find administering dev boxes quite easy.
Solaris runs on a great filesystem and has a long track record. We do not find those advantages significant against the effort it takes to maintain the OS and software components, compared to Ubuntu. Non-standard location of components across our servers is also an issue that would not exist if we switched.
