Hi Steve,

If you send me the Jmeter testplans, I can try and turn them into generic ones
for uPortal demo 4.0x, commit and document them in the WIKI. That would be
fun, thanks,

Alan

Subject: Re: [uportal-dev] Looking to support testing of uPortal

Hi Alan,

We have some jMeter scripts we are tidying up for our production release, which
integrates with our local CAS instance and steps a user through each of their
tabs and portlets and gathers some metrics. We'd be happy to donate those to
the cause.

cheers,
Steve

Hi,

The University of Amsterdam is starting an upgrade project for its local
version of uPortal called mijnUvA. Rather than running QA locally, I would like
to donate a day a week of my time till at least the summer, supporting QA for
the central code base for uPortal, Portlets or CAS. I have experience including:

* Test coordination (was QA director for Sakai CLE sometime back)
* Code reviews / Bug reports based on advice given by tools such as PMD,
FindBugs. I have been a Java developer for large scale campus wide projects, so
understand the code.
* Continuous Integration using Jenkins
* Automated testing including Jmeter, Selenium webdriver. Quality metrics
thresholds.
* Writing all kinds of documentation

A number of action points:

1) I was wondering if anyone has test plans /resources such as performance
tests that are not available centrally that I could cleanup and run centrally.
2) If anyone wants me to test, write tests review their part of the uPortal
code base just ask.
3) If anyone else is working on testing but not centrally then perhaps we can
have a Skype meeting to compare notes.
4) There are area's of documentation that would support our local development
such as a howto on converting ichannels into portlets (168,286). If it helps I
am prepared to interview developers and write some of the missing pages.

Looking forward to getting my fingers dirty with work. Please feel free to
contact me.

Regards,

Alan
