Hi all,
For the benefit of those that could not make the call, I wanted to
recap my takeaways from the meeting. It was a great meeting!
- We (all those present) intend for uP 4.1 to be production
ready, although there might be some desired features still
missing.
- Major pieces missing that will be included and are
currently being worked on are respondr theme, find/add content
and layout customization.
- Unicon continues to work on respondr.
- UW-Madison is implementing a "favorites" and "marketplace/app
store" concept as one option.
- Technical miscellanea (which I probably get wrong):
- Continue leveraging jquery, jquery ui, bootstrap.
- Move away from "theme magic" for adding functionality (e.g.,
header, footer, search, etc.) and towards defining more
regions into which portlets can be placed.
- Include universality, m-universality and respondr as
possible themes (some debate as to what the default should be
in 4.1)
- A few of us will look at breaking the responsive
design epic into separate epics and leverage the agile
boards within Jira for this effort.
- We will try to keep more of this traffic on list.
- We will spin up topical calls or google hangouts as needed.
- A number of us will be at the Apereo Camp in January and will
take the opportunity to focus on identifying what we need to do
to get 4.1 out the door.
- We will look at having some type of virtual hangout on Monday
afternoon of that week (1/27) that others not in AZ will be able
to participate in.
- UW-Madison will share more of their portal redesign effort in
the near future.
