FYI.

uPortal Master is temporarily in a state where the version of jQuery used (1.10.2) is not compatible with the version of fluid used (the French-contributed upmc version of fluid which patches fluid to run on jQuery 1.8.x). Master is currently on jQuery 1.10.2 because Respondr/Bootstrap 3.0 requires jQuery 1.9.x.

We found a few incompatibilities with the latest version of jQuery and fluid:
1. portlet and tab drag and drop do not work
2. Tabs do not hide properly on Newsreader and Contacts.

The fluid team is in process of merging https://github.com/fluid-project/infusion/pull/448 which upgrades fluid to use jQuery 1.10.x. It is expected to be done in a few days. Once this pull request is processed, I'll create a fluid-pre-1.5 version that is used in uPortal 4.1. The fluid team is expected to release fluid 1.5 in a few months.

In addition to being needed by Respondr, that also gives us a chance to work with the updated fluid a bit before the official release occurs, hopefully getting in any bug fixes we find we need.

I'm updating rel-4-0-patches to the fluid upmc version from the French contribution that they have been running for almost a year, along with jQuery 1.8.x, also part of their contribution. We can wait on upgrading rel-4-0-patches to jQuery 1.10 until we see how it goes on master. If it works well, we can consider having rel-4-0-patches on fluid 1.5/jQuery 1.10.2/jQueryUI 1.10.3 to be on the latest and to match 4.1. Your thoughts on this last part are welcome.

I want to again thank our friends in France for the contributions uPortal has received from them. They have been excellent contributions of great benefit to the community.

Thanks,
