Might.  It's something that's been discussed around here but I don't
think we have concrete plans around that yet.

Perhaps this idea could line up somehow with the work we've been doing toward the AUXILIARY window state (though we've taken Eric's suggestion and gone the route of incremental enhancement on the DETACHED state). In a nutshell, we're looking to display one portlet at a time and give it 100% of the width and around 95% of the hight -- all but a thin "sticky header." Intentions for this feature are primarily around displaying external apps as iframes within the portal decently.

Fovoriting non-portal web content could mean -- under the hood -- that you create an iframe portlet pointing at the external content and add it to your layout. Accessing the content in your favorites would mean viewing it in DETACHED state with these enhancements.

I don't think there's currently a way to associate a preferred/default window state with a portlet node within a layout, but adding that capability might pay dividends in other ways.
