Reuters yang terbit 21 April 2005 memunculkan berita yang menyangkut
Mercury dalam vaksin, dikatakan bahwa ethyl-mercury(hasil metabolisme
thimerosal asal vaksin) ternyata keluar dari tubuh lebih cepat (7
hari)dibandingkan Methl-mercury yang berasal dari polusi atau ikan (21
hari), jadi mercury asal vaksin kemungkinan kurang berbahaya dibandingkan

"Mercury in Vaccines Different, Study Shows"

A recent study led by Thomas Burbacher of the University of Washington in
Seattle shows that ethyl mercury, the kind of mercury found in the vaccine
preservative thimerosal, is cleared from the body more quickly than methyl
mercury, which is found in pollution and fish and is known to cause
long-term damage to the brain and nervous system. Manufacturers have
stopped using thimerosal in most vaccines--with the notable exception of
the influenza vaccine in the United States--due to concerns by parents and
some experts that the mercury-containing ingredient could cause autism and
other developmental disorders in children, though such claims have been
refuted by the U.S. Institute of Medicine. The study by Burbacher and
colleagues, published in Environmental Health Perspectives, found that
infant monkeys were able to clear the body of ethyl mercury in just over
eight days, compared with the 21 days needed to expel methyl mercury from
the blood. The findings suggest that the ethyl mercury found in some
vaccines may be less dangerous than methyl mercury, but the study authors

Pertanyaan itu sudah lama beredar dan menjadi masalah untuk orang2
tertentu dari masa ke masa. Thiomersal yang digunakan sangat kecil, bila
dilihat dari tokisistas mungkin tidak akan terjadi. Tapifakta bahwa dia
suatu mercurial organik, membuat orang mencari2 hubungan dg autism, yang
dalam penelitian WHO tidak ada hubungan. Bila dalam kuantitas lebih
besar mungkin akan toksis, tapi jumlah yang dipakai kecil sekali. saya
perlu cari lagi berapa tepatnya. Anda jga bisa melihat. Informasi yg
tidak terbatas itu menyebabkan semua orang bisa/boleh nulis semaunya.
