The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough 
invites applications for a three-year contractually limited-term appointment, 
at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 
2015.

 

Candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching and research with a 
specialization in the study of Urban Geography. The successful candidate will 
teach two full course equivalents (4 half-courses, normally two each term), and 
should have a Ph.D. in Geography or be close to completion. The successful 
candidate must be able to teach a combination of large and small courses at the 
second, third and fourth year levels in Human Geography, including from the 
following:  GGRB05 Urban Geography, GGRB07 Urban Social Geography, GGRC19 
Megacities and Global Urbanization, GGRC13 Urban Political Geography, GGRC33 
Greater Toronto Area, and GGRC45 Local Geographies of Globalization.

 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Governance)

 

The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough 
invites applications for a three-year contractually limited-term appointment at 
the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2012 and ending June 30, 
2015.

 

Candidates must have a record of excellence in teaching and research with a 
specialization in the study of Canadian and/or comparative urban governance 
including different theoretical approaches to the study of urban governance, 
the engagement of different levels of government (municipal, provincial/state, 
and federal/national) in urban affairs, as well as questions of municipal 
planning, citizen participation and community development.

 

The successful candidate will teach two full course equivalents per year (4 
half-courses, normally two each term), and should have a Ph.D. in Planning, 
Political Science, Geography or related disciplines, or be close to completion. 
The successful candidate must be able to teach a combination of courses at the 
second, third and fourth year levels in City Studies, including from the 
following: City Politics, Regional Governance and Planning, Municipal Finances 
in Canada, Urban Government and Management, Civic Engagement in Urban Politics, 
Social Planning and Community Development.
