Member Satisfaction Survey

The 2008 OMA Member Satisfaction Survey is now in the field. Copies have been
distributed to all members via e-mail or regular post.
This is your opportunity to rate the OMA’s performance and provide important
input to guide the Board and senior management in establishing priorities for
the Association.
We have been conducting the survey since 2005, and I can assure you that the
feedback from the frontlines is much appreciated and frequently referenced in
the decision-making processes of the Board and Executive.
The established benchmarks allow us to assess performance in various areas of
the organization and also to identify particular trends or interests based on
member demographics.
Please try and take the time to fill out the survey and send it back to the OMA
at your earliest convenience. We estimate it will take about 15 or 20 minutes
to complete. All members who submit a fully completed survey will be entered
into a draw for one of the following prizes:
        * $1,500 in Air Canada travel coupons
        * $1,000 in Air Canada travel coupons
        * $500 in Air Canada travel coupons

Agreement Update: OHIP Specialty Allocation Process
The 2008 Physician Services Agreement established a new OHIP Specialty
Allocation process that is intended to address the issue of intersectional
income relativity, a challenge that has been with us for many years.
The OMA Board and the members of the bilateral Medical Services Payment
Committee have established the framework to initiate this new allocation
process. Information has been provided to clinical Section Chairs and Tariff
Chairs.
A new web page is now available for members to review:
https://www.oma.org/members/allocation/
The web page includes an introduction to the OHIP Specialty Allocation process,
an orientation manual and guiding principles, along with samples of the
background documents issued to the clinical Sections.
We will be reporting more on this new process as the timelines unfold in the
new year.

Emergency Department Medical Directives Implementation Kit

A new Emergency Department Medical Directives Implementation Kit is available
online: http://www.oha.com/edmedicaldirectives
The kit is intended to assist physicians and other health professionals with
developing, approving and implementing medical directives in their EDs.
The work stems from the recommendations of the Physician Hospital Care
Committee, a tripartite group that included representatives from the OMA, the
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and the Ontario Hospital Association.
The OMA Board reviewed and approved the kit, and it is available for member
reference via a link on the Members’ Home Page. Please note that this material
is intended to serve as an information resource only, it is not a standard of
practice or a required set of directives.

Happy Holidays!

On behalf of the OMA Board, I would like to extend thanks to all members for
your support throughout the year, and wish every member of the OMA a happy and
healthy holiday season.

Dr. Ken Arnold
OMA President
