As Andrew mentioned you can use urwid.__version__ or now urwid.VERSION for a tuple that should allow easier comparisons (any release after 0.9.9) And when you find any regressions not mentioned in the release notes please let me know and I'll try to get them fixed, or at least better documented. Posting to the list or making a ticket on the project site are both good ways to report problems.
