*JOB DESCRIPTION*
• Software Engineer for a new application hosting service (ASP) supporting
multiple client health Plans.  Hosted applications are software products
developed by this organization, including mainframe based COBOL programs as
well as JAVA applications running on servers.
The software engineer will be responsible for the installation, testing, and
production support of the mainframe application hosting service.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the
installed internal and client application system components prior to moving
the applications to production. This includes: program compilations,
internal system validation, external testing with client Plans, transmission
(MQ, FTP, NDM) setup, creation of job streams/procs, production job
scheduling and the establishment of production controls.
Once in production, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the
daily production schedules, setting up user-requested (ad hoc) jobs, and
performing follow-ups on any overnight problems or issues to guarantee their
resolution before the next processing cycle. The incumbent will interface
with operations staff, systems analysts and client Plans on any production
issue or support need.
The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the problem/change
management process, which includes problem identification and issue
resolution and the coordination of any change, if required, to the
(internal) production environment or client Plan production environments.
Additional responsibilities include developing/executing the needed systems
for the collection of accounting and statistical data for billing and
monitoring purposes as well as availability reports used in SLA reporting.
The software engineer will support the migration of new client Plans to the
hosting platform and will work with Plan staff to develop technical
requirements for the hosted environment.  This includes the conversion of
Client Plan data to PlanConnexion, establishment of interface points and
execution of test scripts for each client migration.
The software engineer will be responsible for planning and coordinating
scheduled and unscheduled application software upgrades.  New software
releases will require coordination with data center staff, Plan staff,
internal development staff and business owners to develop test plans and
production cutover schedules.
The software engineer may also be required to develop software solutions to
enable more efficient integration of the hosting service with client Plans'
core systems and operational work flows.

*POSITION REQUIREMENTS*

The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of experience as a systems
engineer working with end users, operations staff and project managers
preferably in a production support role. The position requires:  Strong
problem solving skills; the ability to understand complex systems and system
execution; effective oral and written communication skills; strong mainframe
skills for systems development, testing (e.g. Expeditor, FILEAID, etc.) and
production support. The candidate should be able to work with a minimum of
supervision, work well in a team environment, act decisively in critical
situations, and use sound judgment.

DB2, MQ,


Preferred skills:
• ITS & Healthcare experience is preferred
• Multi-platform project experience would be a plus
• BPM/HIPAA validator such as Vitria, J2EE, WebSphere, Oracle, SQL and
Cognos
