They can be either a SAN or DBA resource, customer prefers someone with DBA skills as well as experience with SAP as a physical DBA. The person can be on the DBA or Storage side. Lots of cases such services are provided by the DBA team. As mentioned, he/she can be a DBA or a Storage support. We prefer a DBA. A BCV is simply a second or third mirror which is synced up with the main devices and then broken off and kept as a backup. You can then at any point restore from the BCV mirror by doing a reverse sync from it to the main devices.
