Will likely spend 75% of time coding in SQL BTEQ, 10% in mload/macro, and 15% in model/design. *General Job Description:* · Candidate needs to be able to independently analyze source systems (Oracle, SQL Server, or Teradata depending on the application), understand desired functionality, and design (or assist in the design) a data model and ETL solution to support the back end needs of a new application or enhance an existing one. The candidate will also need to work with front end developers to create the appropriate stored procedures / macros necessary to retrieve/insert/update data that the GUI needs to display or alter. · Data modeling skills are important, though the level of complexity of modeling will depend on the application. The ability to see the whole picture is critical. Candidate needs to be able to think through an entire design to anticipate as many possible scenarios as possible. Often it is the designer/developer who will find critical business requirement assumption errors and will need to make suggestions on how to alter requirements or processes to make the application achieve the desired result. · An understanding of and experience working with Erwin is needed. · The candidate will write the code required and needs to have strong SQL skills. Experience in SQL Server or Teradata are required (depending on the application – some are SQL Server apps, some are Teradata). · The desired candidate needs to have strong analytical skills and ability to perform troubleshooting with little oversight. Critical thinking and the ability to work without being micro managed are crucial. · For the SQL Server applications, SSIS experience is required. For the Teradata applications, BTEQ/mload and intermediate Unix scripting skills are required.
