*P: J2EE/Spring/LifeRay Sr. Developer* *L :Chicago, IL* *D 6m+Contract: * *Job description:* *Just to be clear, we need a hands-on J2EE/Spring/Liferay Senior Developer with a title of: Software Architect III.* *I will need help finding a very STRONG candidate.* *J2EE/Spring/Liferay are ALL Must have.* *Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations:* Software Architect III - Must possess technical experience analyzing and designing computer systems. Possesses knowledge of current storage and retrieval methods and demonstrated ability to formulate and develop specifications, requirements and software architecture for computer programmers to use in coding, testing, and debugging computer programs. Provides technical direction for personnel performing system and software development tasks including the review of products for quality. Coordinates with Delivery Manager to ensure problem solution and customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations for approval of major computer system installations. Prepares milestone status reports and presentations on system concepts. Provides daily oversight of supporting analysts, developers, testers and technicians as needed to support IT Data As a Strategic Asset (DASA) projects such as the DASA Data Request Management Portal. Self-motivated, disciplined software architect with strong analytical / critical thinking skills. Can work well within team as well as independently. Strong emphasis on presentation, interpersonal and communication skills to lead team efforts. The candidate will be accountable for gathering system specifications, providing high level design solutions and delivering software architecture artifacts by closely working with Plans & business stakeholders. Provides guidelines for performing systems engineering, system analysis and for producing system high level (4+1 Views) design Models and system specifications. The candidate will assist in implementation support and system enhancements and should be comfortable in executing multiple tasks. Provide both order-of-magnitude and detailed estimates for software architecture and design activities and artifacts. Minimum of 7+ years of IT work experience focused in software design with emphasis on system architecture using RUP, Agile, and UML. Health insurance industry background in the area of Claim Processing/Adjudication is preferred. Experience with BCBS Plans, National Data Warehousing and Payment Innovations as well as User Experience / Web UI design development experience for applications such as Provider Data Repository and Patient Review of Physicians a big plus! *Specific Required Knowledge / Skills* § Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience. § At least 7+ years of total Java development experience with and 5+ years on Spring framework and 2+ years’ experience working with LifeRay § Excellent user interface design and implementation experience. § Strong experience in Oracle database should be able write good Oracle SQL queries. § Experience with LifeRay implementation on Tomcat on Linux platform. § Experience in LifeRay integration experience with LDAP. § Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Liferay Portal administration , including the following tasks: o Installation and configuration of development and production environments o Platform administration through the Control Panel o Application design and development o Strong hands-on experience in writing and deploying portlets, extensions, hooks and themes. o Design and implementation of custom page layouts o Database configuration o Organization of users and pages across collection types o Configuration and custom styling of out-of-box application o Integration with legacy third-party applications o HTML 5, CSS 3 and Javascript § Effective at analyzing business requirements and current system behavior and collaborating to create system design specification documents including functional specifications, system use cases, mock-ups, design models and so forth. § Demonstrated experience working within a team environment § Proven ability to work w/ minimal supervision & adhere to schedules § Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Strong presentation skills desired. § Minimum of 5+ years of IT work experience focused in software design with emphasis on RUP and UML. Experience with one or more of the following Data Stage ETL, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Data Marts, DB2, Java / J2EE, Cognos, Hadoop, Vertica,, Data Analysis and SharePoint. § Experience with Source Control, Requirements Management, and UML Modeling tools (Rational suite or comparable) § Advanced RDBMS Database experience (one or more of the following: DB2, Oracle, SQL/Server or comparable) including database modeling, SQL query, and procedural programming. § Highly desirable to have Familiarity with Agile SCRUM as well other BCBSA development processes and methodologies. *Deliverables: * Hands-on Software Architect III that delivers DASA Data Request Management Portal software architecture, software designs and software builds with code developed using best standards. Leads team to develop functional requirement specifications, detailed designs, system use cases and source to target mappings.
