*Job Title: Sr. Application DBA* *Location: New York, NY* *Duration: 12 Months* *Client: State/Education* *Interview: Phone/Skype* Job Description An application DBA is required to develop, design, construct, and maintain database applications supporting our regulatory initiatives, financial professionals and risk management functions. The Sr. Application DBA will collaborate across stakeholders (product managers, project managers, business analysts, and testers) to elicit and analyze requirements; design, implement, and maintain solutions; support testing and integration; and support maintenance needs. • Meet with business stakeholders and other technical team members to gather and analyze application requirements. • Design and build database solutions to satisfy application (business and technical) requirements. • Perform data analysis where requirements may need to be derived from available documentation, interviews with users, and file specifications/samples. • Implement database solutions using available database development tools. • Provide written status reports to management regarding project status, task, and issues/risks. • Think and act like a senior technologist who can be relied upon to operate independently and responsibly in a senior role. • Physical Database Design • Database administration at the application level • Database change management • Database performance tuning • SQL Development, tuning, troubleshooting • Application performance tuning • Application change management Key Responsibilities: 20% - Implement and maintain database designs 20% - Create database objects (tables, indexes, etc.) 20% - Write database procedures, functions and triggers 20% - Assist developers with database activities 10% - Tune database queries 10% - Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities Key Competencies/Skills: 10% Oracle database administration 10% SQL and PL/SQL development in an Oracle 11G and above UNIX-based environment 10% MS SQL Server database administration 10% Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL, replication, DTS/SSIS packages, SQL Agent jobs, SQL Reporting Services, and ActiveX scripting 10% Physical database design 10% Database and operating system performance tuning and monitoring 10% Oracle and SQL Server backup and recovery 10% Code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle 10% Communication with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators 10% Strategic database direction and best practices for the organization Qualifications Experience/Knowledge Requirements Preferred Previous Work Experience: 7+ years as a hands-on Oracle technologist with a good mix of database design, application development and database development including: •Oracle Enterprise Manger 11g or 12c administration and Oracle Apex administration working with the following technology: o TOAD o PL/SQL, TSQL o Shell Scripting/ Perl /Awk o Apache o UNIX/ Linux •At least 3 years of experience as a Sr. MS SQL Server DBA in a large SQL enterprise shop is required and knowledge of o 2008 R2 and 2012, o Replication and Production Maintenance.
