*Job Description*





*SCOPE OF SERVICES *

·         Perform Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) tasks to
monitor software quality and analyze associated business/technical risks
across the software development lifecycle for projects under SIMS Program.

·         Work closely with Quality Assurance Team for implementing
enterprise-wide policies, procedures, quality metrics and standards.

·         Understand and follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
processes in a structured environment, including Waterfall, RUP and Agile
development methodologies.

·         Document, perform and interpret functional tests to mitigate
project risks.

·         Evaluate and test new or modified software to determine that
software meets user requirements and established quality standards.

·         Document software issues and enhancement requests and assist
development with concise and detailed steps for duplication of the problems
found while performing manual functional, integration, and regression tests.

·         Document and revise system test procedures and quality standards.

·         Prepare test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts
for integration, usability, and regression testing.

·         Perform and lead integration, system, regression and performance
testing of software for both manual and automated test execution, and
report test results.

·         Identify interdependencies, ambiguities or omissions, and make
suggestions to improve requirements and ensure
usability/testability/traceability.

·         Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy,
compliance, or completeness, with focus to mitigate risks.

·         Plan test schedules in accordance with project scope and agile
delivery expectations.

·         Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and/or procedures to
determine product quality or release readiness.

·         Develop testing scenarios/cases to address areas such as database
impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, end-to-end and integration
testing, boundary/negative testing, error or defect retests, usability;
including automated scripts.

·         Perform database validations using SQL.

·         Test web applications for cross-browser, cross-platform
compatibility using desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

·         Test web services through web and/or mobile platforms.

·         Perform test execution; direct and monitor other testers during
test execution.

·         Document test procedures to ensure repeatability and compliance
with standards.

·         Adhere to defect tracking process; document software defects,
using a defect tracking tools, monitor the progress in a timely manner,
escalate aging and priority defects to overall stakeholders.

·         Collect and report test results through various metrics reporting
tools and communicating to key stakeholders on a regular basis.

·         Work closely with business analysts, subject matter experts and
development teams in design, development, testing, implementation, and
support of application projects.

·         Contribute to and support roll-out strategies.

·         Participate in and contribute to formal/informal technical
reviews and presentations.

·         Understand high level application architecture/design, network
design, performance constraints and security frameworks.

·         Explore new ideas and initiatives that encourage innovation.

·         Take inputs from reporting manager(s) and appropriately apply
comments/ feedback.

·         Accurately estimate time required to complete development tasks.

·         Collaborate with diverse teams.

·         Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with a variety of people and
achieve results.

·         Proactively initiate, develop, and maintain effective working
relationships with team members.



*MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE*

·         BA/BS Degree or equivalent, in a technology related field or
other degree preferred.

·         8-10 years of total experience in testing with a firm
understanding of functional end-to-end testing, system testing, user
acceptance testing, and regression testing for mission critical business
applications, at least 6 of which are in a web/client-server environment.

·         Experience in all phases of SDLC and standard SDLC methodologies
such as Waterfall, RUP, Agile/ Scrum to deliver client solutions.

·         6+ years of exposure to application lifecycle management tools
for configuration management, version control and testing.

·         Comprehensive knowledge and application of advanced QA concepts,
practices and procedures.

·         Direct hands-on experience with both manual and use of automated
testing tools (QuickTest Pro, LoadRunner, Quality Center, Test Director,
ClearQuest, etc.)

·         Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT
processes through careful testing.

·         Ability to understand business requirements and estimate for
delivery commitments.

·         Experience with test automation and test automation framework.

·         Experience in testing browser based UI applications.

·         Experience in testing apps and web applications in mobile devices.

·         Experience with test case management and defect tracking tools
such as HP ALM/Quality Center, Microsoft Test Manager, Pivotal Tracker and
JIRA.

·         Knowledge of testing in Service Oriented Architecture and web
service testing tools.

·         Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to:
knowledge of multiple software programs (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, Quality
Center, etc.), operating systems, basic networking skills, and basic
hardware knowledge.

·         Familiarity with web technologies, web applications and content
management systems.

·         Track record of completing assignments on time with a high degree
of quality.

·         Ability to set priorities and multi-task in a fast paced
environment.

·         Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and
interpersonal skills.

·         Good communication, presentation and leadership skills.

·         Team player who can establish excellent working relationships
with peers and other teams.

·         Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills.

·         Ability to work on multiple projects as team lead or team
member/developer.

·         Ability to understand business requirements and estimate for

·         Utilize application development environments, tools and
methodologies across multiple platforms.

·         Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel,
Project, PowerPoint, Visio).



*DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE*

   - Professional Testing/Quality Assurance certifications.
   - Technically proficient in more than one language and platform.
   - Experience creating, executing and managing automation scripts using
   Selenium, Cucumber and Gherkin language.

·         Test-driven and Behavioral-driven development experience.

·         Continuous integration experience.

   - Expertise and knowledge of building large-scale information systems.
   - Experience in GIS tools and map integration (ESRI ArcGIS, Google,
   Bing, Pictometry, OpenGeo).
   - Experience in Wireless/Mobile/Disconnected architecture/applications
   testing.
   - Experience in online payment implementation.
   - Exposure to Open Source technology stacks (LAMP, Ruby on Rails etc.).
   - Working knowledge in Business Intelligence and Decision Support
   Systems.
   - Familiarity with performance testing and tools such as LoadRunner and
   Jmeter.
   - Prior experience in federal/state/local government projects.
