Job Title: *Cisco Network Engineer with ASR9K and IOS-XR (3060)*

Location: Denver, CO or Dallas, TX

Duration: 6 months on going project

Taxterms: C2C



The selected resource will perform Network Security duties and will act as
the subject matter expert (SME) for the client’s core network components
and is responsible for ensuring cohesive end-to-end plans for the network.
This position will be responsible for developing and communicating the
direction of the client’s network security and highlighting opportunities
to efficiently implement any new security measures that are proposed or
directed.  The Network Security Engineer will serve as the process owner
for all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate controls
around access to and protection of the core network.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

   - Research, develop, and implement new security strategies to address
   vulnerabilities in current and future network elements, products, and
   services and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
   - Perform detailed analysis of network security infrastructure
   components (networking, firewalls, servers, intrusion detection system
   (IDS), intrusion prevention system (IPS), denial of service system (DoS))
   and evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine the strategic
   network security plan
   - Verify that all strategic network plans align to business initiatives
   - Assist the Network Operations Center (NOC), network integrity, repair,
   and fraud teams in monitoring, investigating, and documenting security
   breaches and denial of service (DoS) attacks
   - Identify security weaknesses in the client’s network and
   recommend/implement policies to address the identified weaknesses
   - Develop weekly reports on client’s network security initiatives and
   project status
   - Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working
   relationships with peers and key contacts across the client’s organizations
   and with outside vendors to make sure that network reliability,
   availability, performance, and scalability requirements are addressed
   - Develop/maintain cohesive end-to-end roadmaps of network security
   infrastructure plans that ensure interoperability between network elements
   and for alignment with network and product plans
   - Work closely with Product Marketing to obtain input on product
   requirements and provide understanding of network security and sessions
   based technology roadmaps
   - Track capital expenditures on network security budget line items and
   report on performance to plan and variances
   - Interact with local, state, and national law enforcement agencies for
   security and Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA)
   compliance



PERIPHERAL DUTIES

   - Lead cross-domain, cross-functional matrix project teams to implement
   solutions according to establishing milestones and budgets
   - Maintain an exceptional level of documentation including diagrams,
   security standards, manuals, and white papers
   - Provide accurate and timely reports on all project deliverables
   - Participate in network planning exercises
   - Other relevant tasks as directed



Desired Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

   - Graduation from an accredited four?year college or university with a
   degree in a technology related field (for example, Computer Science,
   Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, etc.), and
   - Eight (8) years of experience in telecommunications, with at least
   five (5) years specifically related to security and/or fraud, or
   - Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be
   considered.
   - Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) desired
   - Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert with concentration in Security
   desired
   - Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance or the ability to
   complete a single scope background investigation (SSBI) and attain status
   is required



Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

   - Strong engineering and operational experience in a large service
   provider / carrier environment
   - In depth understanding of session initiation protocol (SIP) and
   internet protocol (IP) networking
   - Strong understanding of Oracle and Sonus session border controllers
   (SBCs), policy routing, realms, security, and various configuration options
   - Strong understanding of BroadSoft BroadWorks server policies, routing
   network elements, and security
   - Strong understanding of softswitch technologies such as Genband C3,
   Nortel CS2k, Taqua, and/or Sonus with a demonstrated ability to provide a
   secure network environment for voice services
   - Strong experience capturing and analyzing packets with Wireshark,
   Empirix Hammer XMS and other common network analysis equipment
   - In depth understanding of Cisco and Juniper carrier network operating
   systems
   - In dept understanding of the Cisco ASR9000, Juniper M Series, Juniper
   MX Series, Cisco ME 3XXX, and Cisco ASA 55XX security appliances
   - In depth experience with carrier network routing and transport
   protocols including border gateway protocol (BGP), intermediate-system to
   intermediate-system (ISIS), open shortest path first (OSPF), multi-protocol
   label switching (MPLS), virtual private local area network service (VPLS),
   point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE), and layer 2 tunnel protocol
   version 3 (L2TPv3) with a strong focus on security
   - Understanding of storage area network technologies, particularly
   Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), and security measures to
   ensure data protection
   - Experience with SIP Peering and interconnects between carriers
   - In depth understanding of Linux and Solaris security with a
   demonstrated ability to balance operating system security with application
   accessibility requirements
   - Strong understanding of payment card industry (PCI) compliance
   requirements and experience in implementing
   - Must be able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities and meet
   deadlines
   - Must be proficient and fluent in the English language
   - Must have strong writing and communication skills; able to communicate
   with technical and non-technical personnel
   - Must have the ability to regularly communicate in a manner that is
   respectful, professional and  collaborative

CCIE level engineer on a contract basis, with Service Provider or
Enterprise level experience is required.

This individual will need to have good experience in implementing ASR9k,
proficient in IOS-XR but also willing to work on older equipment to prepare
it for decommissioning.

This person will be provisioning networks, working on documentation,
working escalations, and configuration/implementation.

Not necessarily have to be CCIE level individuals

Client will pay for travel/hotel/car if the individual is not local.

Also, non-local candidates would only be allowed to return home every other

·         This consultant will be focused on isolating their process
control systems from their office LAN and internet.

·         They'll be working on their "Process Side"; their mines, plants

firewalls, such as Cisco Pix, Juniper and other 3rd party vendors with
Checkpoint 1100 firewalls.

provide technical pre-sales (predictive survey) and post-sales survey
