Location: NYC, NY
Duration: About 5 months

SCOPE OF SERVICES

 

Responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance group in defining, implementing 
and integrating quality principles and quality processes within software design 
and development.  Work will include direct hands-on testing support for 
selected 
IT projects.  

 

·      Work collaboratively with staff in DSNY’s Bureau of Information 
Technology 
(BIT) as well as the Department’s Project Monitoring/Quality Assurance (PM/QA) 
vendor to develop, publish, implement and ensure the effective use of software 
quality assurance plans, standards, policies and procedures.

·      Provide subject matter expertise to IT teams regarding QA and testing 
methodologies and processes and demonstrating responsibilities/accountabilities 
required to achieve quality deliverables.

·      Identify instances of non-compliance to QA policies, processes and 
standards 
and refers significant issues to the DSNY QA Manager for resolution. 

·      Provide training on defined QA processes and policies.

·      Develop test scripts and test conditions to validate user requirements 
and defined system specifications for selected projects.

·      Periodically review test scripts and test conditions prepared by DSNY 
test staff to ensure this documentation effectively supports the Department’s 
software development work.

·      Execute functional and performance tests according to test plans and 
scripts, document results, and identify and troubleshoot issues

·      Assure optimum  use of QA tool by testing staff and others, to ensure 
that defects are entered and updated according to standards.

·      Use automated tools to perform performance and functional testing as 
needed (specific tools listed below).

·      Work closely with DSNY IT management, PM/QA vendor and external and 
internal agency development teams to provide testing services and confirm 
application 
stability and functionality prior to deployment

·      May supervise other junior or mid-level quality assurance/test staff

 

·       Software quality assurance plans, standards, policies and procedures 
(developed collaboratively with DSNY IT staff and the Department’s PM/QA vendor

·      QA reports

·      QA handout materials/presentations

·      Test scripts/test conditions for selected software development projects

·      Over 7+ years of prior experience working as a Quality Assurance 
Consultant, 
preferably for or within a New York City government agency or other city 
government 
organizations

·      Advanced skills in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, 
PowerPoint 
and Project

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills (may be asked to 
produce 
a sample of deliverables from prior work).

·      Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals 
– including executives, managers, subject matter experts, developers, and field 
personnel

·      Demonstrated prior experience supervising other quality assurance/test 
staff

·      Possesses a solid understanding of current technological trends and 
accepted application development processes.

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE : - 

 

·      Experience using QA tools, preferably Microsoft Visual Studio Team 
System 
2010 and HP Quality Center, as required to support quality assurance and 
testing 
processes.

·      Knowledge of SQL
