network. Our client, located in the *Austin, TX*, is currently seeking a *Linux
Engineer* resource to join their organization. I have included a complete
job description below in case you or someone you know might be interested

*Role: Linux Engineer with Networking BackgroundLocation: Austin,
TXDuration: Long Term Contract*

*Primary Duties*:
As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:
• Troubleshoots and supports the software on a sophisticated home
networking device.
• Designs and implement new software features.
• Works with senior and junior members of the team to create and deliver
software releases.
• Works in a fast-moving environment to move from product requirements to
completed product.
• Works with the QA team and sometimes customers to troubleshoot complex
issues and then proposes and implement solutions.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.

*Knowledge/Skills/Abilities*:
• 5+ years of development experience programming in C.
• 5+ years of experience using and programming in a Linux/Unix development
environment.
• 5+ years of experience in programming for computer networking.  You
should have familiarity with all or most of networking concepts:
o Linux/Unix network stacks
o Routing and Bridging
o NAT
o TCP and UDP
o IPv6
o Ethernet, ARP
o DNS, DHCP, SIP, NTP and PPP
o IGMP, RTP and RTCP
• Experience working with the Linux kernel and Linux device drivers.
• Comfort developing in a Linux environment using the shell, editors, Make,
compilers, linkers and other Linux tools.
• Comfort troubleshooting complex problems in a large source base in a
Linux and C based environment.
• Comfort designing features, discussing and defending your ideas with
other team members and presenting your proposals in a team environment.
• Experience with the following technologies would be a plus:
o Linux Firewall
o Linux QoS
o DSL
o Wi-Fi
o VoiP
o Video
o HPNA

*Education/Training/Experience*:
• BSEE/CS or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
• Complete software lifecycle development experience.
• Experience developing software in C for Linux systems.
• Experience developing networking software.
• Knowledge of a distributed version control system such as Git.
• Experience with software engineering concepts; these include, but are not
limited to: feature definition, architecture and design, implementation,
unit test and support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
