Location - Los Angeles, CA DIRECTV is looking for a CDN Engineer to support DIRECTV OTT Video Delivery services . This is an opportunity to work with DIRECTV’s engineering, a team of world class team at the forefront of innovation and technology. As a member of this team, candidate will work with highly skilled individuals who have been shaping the network engineering and content delivery industry in the US for years and have now only just started venturing into Latin America, bringing with it, expertise unrivalled in the industry. Ideal candidate should be somebody who enjoys and can lead the content delivery for network architecture & feels strongly not only about building content distribution and delivery networks but also complex migrations and scaling network infrastructure to next level. You must enjoy a close-knit team environment of shared responsibility. Day to Day Functions : ? Design and validate the next generation OTT video network architecture for high performance, availability and redundancy. ? Define network architecture requirements for CDN Services , evaluate current and future OTT network architecture states, and provide guidance and recommendations regarding Network Design best practices for content deliver ? Configuration and testing of various networking equipment for production rollout. ? Configure, troubleshoot and support Brocade ADX and F5 Load balancers for Application delivery and video delivery ? Interface with vendors to resolve technical issues with their equipment ? Work with various system vendors on evaluating new systems and solutions as part of next generation video distribution architectures and provide recommendations. Systems include routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, content caches etc. Familiarization with the following technologies : ? TCP/IP, OSI: In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol stack. ? UNIX/Linux system administration: In-depth experience with most common UNIX/Linux services and system administration functions, ? Content Delivery Networks (CDN): In-depth understanding -- and working experience ? DNS: In-depth to expert level understanding and substantial work experience. Including global server load balancing ? HTTP/1.1: In-depth understanding. ? HTTP/1.1 forward/reverse proxy: In-depth understanding. ? HTTP Adaptive Bitrate video: In-depth understanding and some working experience. ? HTML and JavaScript: Good understanding ? Compiled/JIT languages such as C++, Java, and Python : In-depth understanding. ? LAN: In-depth knowledge of LAN administration, switches, and routing ? WAN: Working knowledge of routing protocols in a service provider environment, specifically: OSPF, BGP, IS-IS. ? Video: General understanding of video distribution and OTT services. Nice to Have: ? Understanding of SDN and NFV Architectures ? Familiarization with private clouds such as VMWare, OpenStack ? Familiarization with storage and related technologies (FC, FCOE) is a plus ? Knowledge of latest video and over the top delivery technologies ? Understanding of Key Process and Quality standards like ITIL, ISO. ?
