Job Title:  Linux Systems Engineer/Architect

Location:  Memphis, TN

Duration:  12-24 Month Contract (Long Term)

Start Date:  ASAP

*NOTE:* The person we are looking for is a step or 2 above a Linux Systems
Administrator – they need to be a Senior Engineer level to Architect level
with Linux design skills in an enterprise production environment. Role is
roughly 80% tactical and 20% strategic.



*ATTRIBUTES: *

-        Strong Linux technical skills – able to whiteboard designs, etc.,
Strong critical thinking skills and Natural curiosity. For example – The
candidate should be interested in technology, finding solutions to
problems, inventing new solutions, and experimenting. Those attributes are
a good indicator of whether the engineer will be able to improvise, learn,
and determine the best course of action.

-        Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve
complex issues independently

-        Excellent logic, verbal and mathematics skills and ability to
explore and analyze alternatives

-        Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex
problems

-        Excellent conflict-resolution skills

-        Personable – able to communicate effectively with all levels:
Technical side to C-level to Business side to Parking lot attendants.

-        Leadership and Project management type skills and qualities. This
is a Lead type position and this person will lead project teams.

-        Mentoring/training. This person will need to mentor others
especially Linux systems administrators and other Linux engineers.



*SKILLS:*

-        5-10 years expertise in deployment and management of Linux (RedHat
preferred) enterprise infrastructures.

-        Extensive track record implementing large, complex
enterprise-class solutions using Linux technologies. Current environment
has 800 Linux severs.

-        5-10 years' experience in the design of complex, distributed
systems with 24*7 operational requirements

-        Extensive skills with networking, Linux System Administration, and
server security

-        Advanced networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, network
security)

-        Understands Virtualization and managing virtual machines – VMware
preferred. Experienced with physical to virtual migrations (P2V).

-        Experience with Linux Clustering and High Availability

-        Shell scripting – KSH, BASH, CSH

-        Demonstrated ability to design infrastructure to achieve high
levels of availability

-        Ensures architecture, design and build documentation is complete

-        Expert understanding of software development and infrastructure
project lifecycles

-        Strong Linux background in defining, developing and deploying
Linux systems

-        Experience contributing original designs to the Linux
Infrastructure

-        Experience developing Systems Roadmaps

-        Participates in formal design reviews in relation to new projects
and legacy systems

-        Deploys and supports Linux Server systems.

-        Participates in root cause analysis for outage incidents.

-        Provides high-availability and disaster recovery infrastructure
designs

-        Familiarity with open source tools, monitoring systems, hardware
troubleshoot, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with security
updates

-        Perform installations/patching of operating system, software
installation, and system backups - data recovery

*Preferred:*

-        RedHat Linux Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification

-        ITIL Foundation certification
