*Job Description* –
The OLAP Business Intelligence (BI) Architect will be responsible for
designing, developing, enhancing and maintain OLAP-based BI assets. These
assets will interface with our Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
directly from MS Excel. They will play a key role in directing the
technical approach of team members regarding OLAP-based solutions created
with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). The OLAP BI Architect
will be involved in the design of the semantic layer within the EDW and BI
tool stack to leverage SSAS OLAP capabilities, and make recommendations.
This hands-on position requires broad experience in developing OLAP-based
solutions that deliver consistent results. This position reports to
the Manager
of Business Intelligence and is not responsible for direct reports.
*Principal Duties and Responsibilities:*
*BI Development Process:*

Experience in debugging, trouble-shooting, and influencing the
team to use best practices in the design, development, and
deployment of
cubes in MSSAS
-
Ability to learn new technologies rapidly and apply development
methodologies to them.
-
Experience in partnering with Quality Assurance operations to
proactively create test plans and identify data integrity
issues caused by
upstream data.
*BI Development:*
-
This position will include technical leadership of other team
members working in various capacities and skill levels with
OLAP tools and
associated development.
-
Ensure that objects are created with our design and report
development standards.
*Domain and Business Knowledge Development:*
-
Develop a strong understanding of source-system data and determine
which elements need to be exposed to the semantic layer that will be
exposed for BI OLAP reporting solutions.
-
Partner with SMEs across business units to understand their
challenges and sources of information. This will evolve into technical
discussions for potential BI solutions and enhancement of EDW
subject areas.
*Other Responsibilities: *
-
Work with platform administrators help train and setup the
appropriate monitoring, support, and controls.
-
Work with business users to design and develop prototypes for
tactical and enterprise solutions.
-
Work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to
provide estimates and help refine technical requirements
-
Resolve data integrity issues by profiling data and understating
data behavior and business rules.
-
Performs administrative duties such as status reports.
*Minimum Qualifications and Key Requirements:*
-
Deep experience (7 years or more) with OLAP cube development using
Microsoft SSAS
-
Demonstrated proficiency in the design and development of data warehouse
semantic layer and data modeling concepts such as star schemas, snowflake
schemas and highly-normalized models.
-
Expert level knowledge of SQL. Ability to diagnose and tune queries,
use of advanced SQL features such as window / analytic functions.
-
Experience with Aggregate Join Indexes (AJI) on Teradata platform
preferred.
-
Experience in the following reporting tools - Business Objects, Microsoft
SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) , Teradata OLAP Connector, Hyperion
Essbase, Tableau.

Experience and knowledge of disciplined project-delivery processes.
Experienced
with both waterfall and agile-like processes.
-
Demonstrated experience in delivering multiple projects in different
subject areas and environments.
-
Experience in working with matrix-managed resources in an effective and
constructive fashion.

Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
