*Job Title: Senior Firmware Engineer - CONTRACT*
*Location: Salinas, California*
*Job description*
The Senior Firmware Engineer ("SFE") Contractor must be able to write and
debug firmware level software in FreeRTOS on ARM processors. The SFE
Contractor must have familiarity with (micro-controllers/microprocessors),
machinery control or robotics, and be able to read and interpret schematics
and datasheets. This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager.
This position is based in Monterey, California.
*Duties And Responsibilities*
· PARTICIPATE IN PRODUCT DEFINITION
· Help research concepts and specifications; Help define possible
options; and
· Help to choose processor and related peripheral devices.
*PRODUCT DESIGN*
· Work with Electronics design engineer on function mapping and
interfaces;
· Work with design engineer to bring up and test new designs;
· Create functional product firmware; and
· Create touch screen interfaces on dedicated Windows CE touch
screen panels.
*PRODUCT SUPPORT*
· Complete documentation of created components for future
maintenance/enhancement; and Evaluate Product change requests to determine
feasibility.
*REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS*
· C, C++ programming required;
· Knowledge of FreeRTOS for machinery control;
· Experience interfacing to transducers and mechanical actuators;
· Understanding of multiprocessing and multiprocessing data types;
· Ability to use in-circuit emulators and analyzers for code debug.
· Ability to read and interpret data sheets and electrical
schematics;
· Knowledge of Digital Circuits, including
micro-controllers/micro-processors, memory, and communications interfaces;
· Must possess excellent problem solving, time management, decision
making, presentation, and communication skills along with good analytical
ability and
· Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office
software.
*ADDITIONAL SKILLS (desirable)*
· Knowledge of Linux development and Linux driver development;
· Knowledge of the following software interfaces and languages:
WCF, REST,SOAP, JSON, XML;
· Knowledge of the following communications and interface
standards: Ethernet, USB, PCI, PCIExpress, SPI and I2C;
· Knowledge of Signal Processing techniques; and
· Familiarity in using oscilloscopes, meters and other test
equipment to debug designs.
*EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS*
· BSEE degree in Software Engineering or Electrical engineering,
Computer Systems Engineering, or related discipline is required.
Equivalent experience accepted.
