We are looking for an experienced Ruby developer to join our expanding API 
product team. Our team is small and growing… every developer can make an 
enormous 
impact. As a developer here, you’ll take ownership of features and projects, 
working with other developers and product managers to evaluate, design, and 
implement from top to bottom. You’ll make architecture and implementation 
decisions 
and debate them with other smart developers to ensure we’re building clean, 
maintainable and useful API endpoints.

•                      Maintain and optimize existing Ruby (Sinatra) code base

•                      Prepare for service migration to cloud deployments

•                      Work with internal teams at BBY 

             

Position Overview:

•                    Produce well-tested, scalable, high-performing elegant 
designs and code utilizing modern web development best practices.

•                    Be an openly communicating member of the product 
development 
team.

•                    Use prototypes and pre-design techniques (BDD, TDD, etc.) 
to develop and refine plans.

•                    Develop realistic and accurate estimates of difficulty 
and work effort.

•                    Design and develop RESTful APIs to power our internal 
and external integrations.

•                    Perform configuration management, continuous integration, 
version control, testing and document management with tools such as AWS, 
OpenStack, 
Docker, Git, RSpec, Cucumber, Travis, Jenkins and JIRA

 

 What would a normal day for this position look like??

•           Will attend less than 30 minutes of meetings

•           Collaborate in open environment with rest of developers and team

•           Pair program as necessary

•           Work with Ops to ensure quality builds

•           Daily stand up meeting 

 

Skills Overview:

What are the MUST have skills that you are looking for in a candidate?

•           4+ years of professional software development experience

•           2+ years of professional experience with Ruby using a framework 
of Rails or Sinatra

•           Agile software design experience – create and consume stories 
within 
a sprint structure

•           Team player who can establish excellent working relationships with 
peers and other teams, and has experience using team collaboration tools.

 

What are the technologies and the depth of the technologies that a candidate 
must have in order to be successful in this role?
