*Position: Sr. Java Developer * *Location: Chicago area (Mattawa, IL)* *Length: 1 year* Interview: Phone *Need local only* *Must have core Java development in a banking environment and a background with banking regulations compliance project.* Overview The global Regulatory Compliance IT team is responsible for a large portfolio of systems, which support the Regulatory Compliance business. The Market Abuse Surveillance programme enables Regulatory Compliance to ensure that HSBC complies with regulatory guidelines applicable to the prevention and detection of Market Abuse scenarios. As risks and regulations change over time, we are continually seeking to grow our surveillance capabilities through the implementation of innovative technologies and custom deliveries. Purpose of this Role The purpose of this role will be to: · Undertake development tasks assigned by the Project Manager or Team Leader, including contributing to the development of software associated with rules driven surveillance solutions and associated data feed processing. · Ensure that development is undertaken in line with continuous integration / delivery philosophies and that code quality standards and processes are adhered to. · Provide guidance and assistance to other team members that may be less experienced in Java development. · Provide BAU Support (3rd Line) for the Production system. · Contribute to code releases, raising Change Requests, providing training where required to Support Staff and being involved in the implementation. In addition to the above, the individual is required to work with Consultants and other non-HSBC personnel both in India and other HSBC offices. Principal Accountabilities · Appropriately document requirements and specifications that describe input, output and logical operation; and convert them into code. · Creation of test scripts associated with Test Driven Development. · Delivery of defect free code on time and in budget to a production environment. · Manage the rectification of production system issues with the minimum disruption to the business. · Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars), internal control standards and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behavior. Core Skills · Core Java (v6 and above including threading, performance, profiling) · Java data persistence (JDBC/JPA/hibernate) · Spring integration (Core/MVC/AOP/Batch/Security) · Batch development experience (Control-M) · JavaScript (JQuery/ExtJS) · Code repository and version control systems (GIT/Subversion/ClearCase/RTC) · Scripting Languages (Linux/Bash shell/Python) · RDBMS (Sybase and Oracle PL/SQL) · ETL / Data Processing in Java Essential Experience · Recent proven development experience in the core skills above. · Excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle and application development process including best practice methodologies · Proven ability to prioritize competing demands · Ability to work unsupervised – self-motivated and enthusiastic · Ability to work under pressure to exacting deadlines. · Recent experience of working within the Banking and Financial Markets domain.
