* Position Responsibilities:*

The Firewall Engineer will be responsible for the following primary duties:

   - Proactively implements, updates, maintains, manages, monitors, and
   supports enterprise network and systems security operations infrastructure
   throughout the shared services environment


   - Performs change control and device configuration management activities
   on all security hardware
   - Provides management level reporting of firewall activities on a
   periodic basis
   - Participates in security incident response team activities, providing
   and implementing tactical risk mitigation to incidents
   - Actively protects the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of
   customer, employee, and business information
   - Works with other firewall  team members to review security
   architecture and design documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and
   compliance with the articulated security posture and industry requirements
   - Provides vulnerability and threat management monitoring and mitigation
   response
   - Participates in tactical and operational planning of vulnerability
   assessment activities
   - Contributes to team effectiveness by accomplishing additional security
   related results as needed
   - Assists Senior and Lead Security Engineers in the review, development,
   testing and implementation of security plans, products and control
   techniques
   - Act in a supporting role in the execution of firewall-related projects
   and initiatives
   - Participates in operations and tactical planning; leading and/or
   supporting assigned projects

*Position Requirements:*

   - Eight (8)years’experiencebeingresponsible foradministering, operating,
   maintaining, and securingalarge-scalecomputernetwork, includingtwo (2)years
   in atechnical leadership or supervisoryrole.
   - Five (5)years of experiencein supportingacomplexback-end firewall
   infrastructure environment covering all aspects of firewall administration
   such as hardware, operating system, encryption tunnels,
   gateway-to-gatewayVPNs, TCPport exemptions, day-to- operations of firewall
   rulesets, backupand restoration ofmanagementconsoles, firewall OS, and
   rulesets.
   - Two (2)years’experiencetroubleshootingnetworkproblems and providing
   solutions.
   - Two (2)years ofprogressive experiencein Configuration
   &ChangeManagement (CCM).
   - Two (2)years ofprogressive experiencein supportingall aspects of
   remoteaccess using broadband and dial-up services.
   - One (1) year experience in Web content filtering, firewalls, and VPN.
   - Three (3)yearsofprogressive experiencein supportingalargenetwork
   comprisingbusiness DSLbasedgateway-to-gatewayVPN, MPLS,andpoint-to-point
   services.
   - *Experience supporting Palo Alto, Cisco and/or CheckPoint/EndPoint
   (E80 or higher) firewall technologies is strongly preferred*
   - Technicalcertification (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional)
   preferred
   - Thorough knowledgeofcomputernetwork telecommunications,
   WindowsServeroperating systems, and TCP/IPprotocol.
   - Thorough knowledgeoftelecommunications, computersecurityissues,
   andestablished securitypractices.
   - Experiencewith developingtechnical documentation pertainingto project
   plans, engineering layout, and project schedules.
   - Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
   - Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without immigration
   sponsorship.



*Desired Skills and Qualifications:*

   - *Experience supporting Palo Alto, Cisco and/or CheckPoint/EndPoint
   (E80 or higher) firewall technologies is strongly preferred.*
   - Past consulting experience as the individual will often be acting in a
   consulting role and as a technical advisor.
   - A willingness to perform work after-hours or weekends when needed.
   - 5+ years of Industry experience in related field.
   - The ability to articulate solutions to such diverse constituencies as
   project managers, clients, business stakeholders and engineers, and to
   coordinate (with both project management and engineering) major systems
   events such as application upgrades, launches, load tests and deployments.
   -  A willingness to learn new technologies and their applications in the
   enterprise
   - The ability to quickly understand and be able to articulate business
   impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific business
   problems through the effective use of technology.
   - The ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design
   documentation, and manuals.



*The Ideal Candidate:*

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ of relevant work experience in
Palo Alto, Checkpoint or Cisco Firewall administration.  Federal Government
Network experience is strongly preferred. At least 5 years’ experience will
have been in deploying, configuring, and administering Checkpoint firewalls
and hands on experience with network protocols.  The candidate will have
relevant experience securing a large inter network establishing and
enforcing policies and monitoring access as well as 5 years’ experience in
LAN/WAN protocols and a deep understanding of network management tools. In
addition, the candidate will be proficient in developing documentations of
solution/configuration/operations in Visio and MS Office products.
