Solution Architects are responsible for planning and designing technology 
solutions 
that are efficient, stable, resilient, secure, and aligned with Companies 
business 
and IT strategies and standards. The Solution Architect works closely with 
other architects and stakeholders to define the systems architecture and guide 
the use of tools, technologies and techniques in the realization of that 
architecture. 
The focus for this role will be to provide project level design direction and 
thought leadership and to help articulate a strategy to grow one or more 
business 
capabilities.
The Solution Architect will lead and be involved in:
• Conceptual and detailed solution design on development projects. This 
includes 
reviewing and approving software designs and implementation approaches to 
promote 
best practices in the use of software tools and technologies and adherence 
to corporate and IT strategy
• Collaborating on development and execution of strategy with other Architects, 
Portfolio Managers and across IT, especially where the portfolio 
strategy/roadmap 
has cross-organizational impact
• Applying architectural principles in support of business and IT strategy
• Driving technology direction and ensuring that design goals are met relative 
to quality, operational characteristics and volumetrics.
• Informing and guiding IT and the business with respect to Company reference 
architecture
• Share knowledge, mentor and develop staff with regards to design principles, 
implementation techniques and emerging technologies and trends
• Provide leadership and/or representation to various technical standards 
groups, 
committees, and workgroups.
• Perform enterprise architecture audits on selected projects/phases of 
projects 
to ensure alignment
• Survey markets for industry and technology trends and opportunities that 
may support Company goals and objectives
• Promoting best practices in the use of software tools and technologies
Key Accountabilities:
Domain Solution Architect 70% job responsibility
• Provide design and technical leadership and apply critical thinking to 
interface 
development efforts including in-flight EDI X12 835 project.
• Produce high level conceptual and contextual designs to meet project 
requirements 
and in line with architectural strategy and principles
• Develop detailed system and component design specifications for assigned 
projects and review with peer and leadership groups. Seek guidance from peers 
and share knowledge regarding system changes, approaches and techniques. 
Discuss 
architectural impacts and considerations
• Assist project teams by reviewing proposed solutions and/or tools and 
ensuring 
adherence to architectural patterns
• Provide project direction regarding architectural decisions to ensure 
alignment 
to the overall strategic vision
• Create and maintain work stream/capability architecture design documents 
(WSAD) to be utilized during investment planning and project development
• Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in 
technology 
that could impact or be leveraged by the Company
• Participate in evaluations of software solution vendors as well as those 
products and services targeted for possible integration with Company technology 
ecosystem
• Occasionally review approved, in-flight and proposed IT investments to assess 
impact to infrastructure and operational groups, architectural fit, and 
implications 
to capability roadmaps
Enterprise Architecture, strategy and planning 20% job responsibility
• Assist in the creation and execution of a long term architecture vision
o Understand and communicate the Technical, Solution and Application 
Architecture
o Define and implement standards for others to follow in the use of technology
o Define and implement the tactical plans necessary to achieve the long term 
vision
• Develop and execute on mid to long term capability roadmaps aligned with 
business and IT objectives
• Make formal and informal presentations to technical and non technical 
audiences 
to explain the architecture and gain enterprise support for the vision
• Work closely with peer architects and other IT and non-IT staff to ensure 
that developed strategies fit within the architecture strategy.
Operations Architect 10% job responsibility
• Review and improve on existing systems, making use of new technologies and 
methodologies to seek continual improvement for existing architectures.
• Work with IT partners on performance tuning, capacity management, system 
life-cycle and data retention strategies
• Participate in the preparation of formal evaluations and recommendations 
on technology requirements for short and long term business objectives
• Suggest and review operational environment architectural changes .
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Major: IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 4 years of production level experience with a contemporary 
software 
development tool set.
• Minimum of 4 years of System Design and/or Systems Architecture experience
• Background will include experience in Health Care IT
o Must have knowledge of and experience with HIPAA EDI Health Care transaction 
sets
o Direct, hands-on experience with EDI X12 835 Claim Payment and Remittance 
Advice
• Significant experience in Systems Analysis, Business Analysis and/or Data 
Analysis
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Relational Database technologies (Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server)

• 2 or more years in a technical leadership position
• Knowledge of security and regulatory requirements including: HIPAA, PHI and 
PII.
• Experience with project management tools and methods as well as business 
case development
• Enterprise governance models and practices
• Experience with change management practices (ITIL)
• Technical Acumen – Strong domain knowledge in application design and 
development, 
working knowledge of current IT and systems technologies and standards
• Business Acumen – Ability to command the respect of not only IT peers, but 
also business management. Strong understanding of business requirements and 
processes as they relate to systems architecture.
• Interpersonal Relations – Sells approaches through the power of ideas rather 
than mandates.
• Ability to forge single-purpose commitment from others with disparate
