*Job Title - Project Manager*
*Location – **Memphis, TN*

·       *Below are the notes I have on my discussion re the PM position.*



-              PM’s need to be able to adjust quickly and work through the
gray areas.

-              Must but be able to deal with the chaos and sudden changes
that may occur

-              They should know PMI well enough to be able to break the
rules, know what can be skipped, etc.

-              PMP is not required, but may be asked why they do not have
it.

-              A “know it all” will NOT work in this environment.

-              Must have a “fresh” perspective and be open to learning new
ways of doing things

-              A lot of certifications- are they just a paper pushers and
not productive?

-              Candidates who do not have an active LinkedIn or if the
LinkedIn profile does not match the resume. Even if the candidate may not
be a fit for one specific position, the hiring manager may recommend them
to another HM for a different position.

-              Resumes with a lot of short term contracts (less than 10
mos.)- Someone who is just bouncing around a lot. Why haven’t of those
contracts been extended? Why hasn’t anyone wanted to hold on to them?

-              PMO is typically a team less than 20

-              The interviews are very informal- want candidates to be
comfortable and just be themselves, show their personality in the interview

-              Contractors in the PMO may have to work some nights and
weekends depending on event schedule, but will know well in advance



*JOB PURPOSE:*

Leads the planning, managing and delivery of business systems solutions and
associated applications, technical support services in support of business
objectives.  Includes project planning, estimating, execution, and
implementation of projects.  Responsible for working closely with the
Project Managers, Business Analysts and Information Technology Services
teams to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of systems solutions
deployed in support of business goals and objectives.



*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*

1.  Ensures standards and procedures for project reporting and
documentation are followed. Leads large projects or initiatives supporting
the business goals and objectives.

2.  Creates and maintains a project plan, consults in departmental
meetings, creates and delivers presentations.

3.  Creates detailed project status reports, risk assessments, charters and
issue logs for management and project team. Leads all aspects of a project
including initiation, planning, monitoring, implementation and closing.

4.  Creates, maintains and tracks project budgets, processes invoices,
performs budget analysis; including cost variances, schedule variances, and
earned value.

5.  Leads or assists in contract negotiations, including RFP's, contract
administration, and contract closure.

6. Manages vendor relationships including service delivery and overall
performance as pertains to assigned projects

7. Provides leadership and direction to the project team staff in a matrix
environment including conflict resolution.

8. Uses critical path methodology and change management skills to manage
assigned projects.

9. Mentors Project Coordinators and Project Management Specialist to
increase project management knowledge, skills, and abilities in the Project
Management Office.

10. Communicates  effectively anc concisely with the project stakeholders
through verbal, written and face-toface communication.

1. Performs other duties as assigned.

2. Analyze trends, develop and maintain a program for organizational
learning and sharing of experiences, internally and externally.

3. Performs job duties as assigned as part of  Business Continuity
Management Program, including annual maintenance and testing of business
continuity, disaster recovery and emergency response plans.



*JOB REQUIREMENTS:*

·        Knowledge - Requires general knowledge of computers; speak and
write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations;
understands complex verbal or written instructions; must be well organized
and systematic in work processes, possess excellent communication and
collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with groups and
in the conduct of meetings.

·        Proven understanding of the Project Lifecycle and Software
Development Lifecycle; competent in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio,
MS Outlook and other tools that would be used for
communication/documentation purposes.

·        Proven ability to work well individually within a team
environment; delegate and share decision-making with team members as
appropriate.

·        Must have strong leadership skills and able to lead project
personnel, excersing strong interpersonal skills; manage multiple projects
simultaneously.

·        Proven management of complex system implementations (Oracle
preferred).

·        Advanced knowledge of MS Project with in-depth use experience.

·        Knowledge ordinarily acquired through Bachelor’s degree and 5
years experience combining technical, analytical, and functional experience
including experience in project design, project scheduling and/or contract
administration or a MBA and 4 years experience combining technical,
analytical, and functional experience including experience in project
design, project scheduling and/or contract administration.

·        PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification preferred.

·        Must possess a valid driver's license.  (essential job functions -
1-10).
