ESRI JavaScript Web Application Developer Atlanta GA, 4Months
The GDOT is seeking a technical GIS developer for developing Esri ArcGIS
Server 10.3x and SharePoint 2010/2013 solutions. The candidate will have
design, development, implementation, and support experience of solutions in
the ArcGIS API for (HTML5) JavaScript.
*Responsibilities*
- Design, develop, and implement customized web applications, web
services, mobile, and enterprise solutions for clients using Esri ArcGIS
API’s within SharePoint 2013/iPhone environment
- Coding/Deploying GIS web editing/mapping applications
- Coding/Deploying ArcGIS Mobile applications
- Conducting performance, unit, system, integration, and quality
assurance testing of applications
- Write comprehensive technical specifications and support documentation
- Work closely with other developers and product engineers to design and
develop public-facing web mapping sites for the management, manipulation,
and visualization of spatial data
- Assist with application development estimating, planning, and progress
tracking
- Active and effective participation in various activities within the
software development cycle
- Interface with customers to identify, develop, and implement custom
components for ArcGIS
- Upgrade existing ArcGIS Server 10 applications to the current version
- Migrate existing ArcGIS Server 10 applications to SharePoint 2013
- Develop geoprocessing and GIS web services
- Contributing to knowledge base and teaching others
- Developer will also participate in implementations Esri Roads and
Highways, Bentley ProjectWise, and Agile Assets
- All other duties as assigned

- *Required Skills/Experience*
- Esri JavaScript API for service based web editing of geodatabases in
Oracle 11g/12c
- Esri ArcGIS Server 10x
- Esri ArcObjects
- Esri ArcGIS Desktop 10x
- Esri ArcSDE/Oracle 11g/12c geodatabases
- Esri Services/Map Services
- Able to develop the following Map Services:
- Feature Services
- Geocode Services
- Geometry Services
- Geoprocessing Services
- Image Services
- KML Services
- Mobile Data Services
- OGC Services (WMS, etc.)
- AJAX, JavaScript, VB Script, or Python
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise architecture
- Bachelor’s in geography, GIS, computer science, or a related field
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to isolate/solve any number of problems from code bugs to
database connectivity to application server or operating system failures
- Experience with industry-standard technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML,
XSLT, Git, HTML5, Dojo, etc.
- Comfort working in Microsoft or Java-based realms: operating systems
and platforms (.NET, JEE), application servers (IIS, Tomcat), architecture,
implementation patterns
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other
technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
- Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis,
map projections, etc.
- Experience with current technology implementation patterns including
service-oriented and cloud
- Knowledge of IT security concepts and implementation patterns within
Esri technology

- Candidate will have experience in developing custom SharePoint web
parts and configuring commercial-off-the-shelf web parts.

Candidate will be working in the Enterprise GIS Team of IT Applications.
Candidates will work with supporting IT team members (database, network,
server, etc.) and interacting with business units. The candidate will
follow internal SLDC, standards, and accepted best practices for developed
solutions.
The Enterprise GIS team is composed of 4 HTML5/JavaScript/.NET C#
developers, a data manager, and team leader. The team supports over 360
ArcGIS Desktop users and approximately 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web
visits. Applications support GIS portal, feature mapping, project planning,
emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records. The team
develops enterprise services, applications, and databases. The team
coordinates with client, server, network, and database/data warehouse
personnel to support and develop the underlying IT solutions.
The position end date is set for the end of the Georgia DOT fiscal year.
Georgia DOT may exercise the option to renew contracts in one year
increments. Several successful developers have continued working for
several years with contract extensions. However, Georgia DOT is under no
obligation to extend contracts and may terminate employment at any time.
