Overview:

The role of the Sr. Infrastructure Engineer is to ensure the successful
delivery of detailed solution designs based on client requirements and
schedule for the project. Uses consulting skills including questioning,
listening, ideas development, permission and rapport and subject matter
influencing to accomplish project tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

   - The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer provides the cross-functional
   technical leadership across all affected solution components. There are
   many points which require collaborative activities and the Sr.
   Infrastructure Engineer will provide facilitation and content during key
   working sessions.
   - The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the
   cross-functional technical content of deliverables produced by their
   functional areas or towers in developing the solution. A Sr. Infrastructure
   Engineer may have several Capability Engineers reporting directly or
   indirectly to him/her.


   - Accountable for the development of solution overviews and summaries
   for both company and client use – sufficiently detailed to convey solution
   specifics.
   - Align Engineering and ITO Delivery solutions and expectations.
   - Single point of contact for escalation and resolution of engineering
   issues for functional area and projects.
   - Provide technical input and guidance to CE and Accounts
   - Support both Standard (T&T) & Non-Standard Service Requests
   - Assist in resource definition & allocation and cost containment
   - Assist CE and project teams with processes to engage Engineering
   resources
   - Assist Account Project managers on the following:
      - Organize and ensure engineering work requests are assigned
      - Identify and ensure all engineering deliverables are noted in
      project schedules
      - Validate the dates for engineering deliverables in the project
      schedule are realistic and achievable
      - Validate the technical requirements of the solution meets
      contractual and SLA requirements (availability, performance, capacity)
      - In conjunction with CE, Validate T&T Plans, resource schedules and
      costs and develop client-facing collateral.
   - Provide leadership between technical towers for integration and
   dependency issues/concerns as it relates to functional area or project.
   - Facilitate Engineering/ITO Delivery alignment
   - Leverage portfolio capabilities, where appropriate
   - Incorporate ESSM (i.e., SRA), when appropriate
   - Leverage Platform / Network / SAN Templates
   - Technical leadership and support of NSSR projects
   - Ensure all design summary proposals adhere to capability standards,
   GE-QMS process and artifact requirements.
   - Review solution during the construction phase and validate the “as
   built” environment matches the detailed design

*Technical Skills and Experiences:*

   - *At least four years of hands on experience with 4 or more of the
   following platforms: Linux, Solaris, UNIX, AIX, VMware, Windows 2008,
   Cloud, Workplace Services, Hosting Services, Leveraged Storage, BUR,
   Application / Middleware, Security, SRA*
   - *Meets Infrastructure-engineering skills in the following areas:*
      - *Web Server (Sun One, iPlanet, etc) (3 years of experience)*
      - *Knowledge in Oracle Database*
      - *Knowledge in Backup/Restore (TSM, Networker, Avamar, etc)*
      - *Knowledge in Sun Java Enterprise Server*
      - *Knowledge in BEA WebLogic*
      - *Knowledge in Red Hat*
      - *Solid understanding in Networks, Firewalls, Routers, IP Filters*
      - *Knowledge in Load Balancers (BigIP/F5, Cisco) is a plus*
      - *Knowledge in J2EE*
