*SAS GRID Administrator* *3 months*
*Philadelphia PA* *Onsite up to 3-4 weeks during the contract, otherwise can be offsite remote.* *DESCRIPTION and RESPONSIBILITIES * SAS is seeking a full time SAS Grid Administrator to work with our customer, a large sized health insurance company in the Philadelphia PA area. The consultant will provide support services consisting of many activities including: knowledge transfer on how to use Grid Manager, monitoring and managing customer’s SAS Grid environment, establishing User IDs and administering access privileges to users, addressing availability, scalability and enhanced throughput, defining libraries, performing backups, maintaining a security plan, and other activities at the customer’s request. The primary tasks include: • Assisting with migration-related tasks from the customer’s existing Windows-based SAS 9.4 environment to the new Grid Linux-based (Redhat) Production and Test environments. • Starting, stopping, restarting and determining the status of SAS Processes. • Configuring processes for optimal performance within the Customer environment. • Applying SAS Grid usage tracking, monitoring, alerts notification and load balancing. • Assessing and optimizing performance of the SAS Grid environment. • Promoting metadata from one environment to the other, or working with Custom and Project Repositories and promoting content. • Leveraging programming changes to parallelize existing SAS programs / scripts in making them optimized with SAS Grid. • Adding or reconfiguring nodes in the SAS Grid environment. • Leveraging and applying experience working with Metadata Security - ACTs, groups, ACE's, Roles. • Checking the status and operations of SAS servers and processes, including starting, stopping, and/or pausing the servers / processes used in the SAS system. • Monitoring, logging, and/or troubleshooting SAS servers, Grid environment and processes, including system access and password problems or error messages and using system logs or setting logging options as well as options within SAS Management Console (SMC). • Controlling user access to various parts of the SAS system, granting permissions to read, write, create or view reports and data within the system – ensure that Users see only the information that Users are authorized to access. Creating and configuring libraries and permissions for Users and groups of Users, and assigning logins. • Leveraging and applying knowledge of integrating SAS metadata security with OS level security. • As applicable, creating or helping maintain an authentication plan for securing the SAS platform resources, utilizing alternative authentication providers such as LDAP and Active Directory. • Leveraging and applying experience performing SAS backups including Metadata Repository, SAS permanent data, stored process code, etc. • Resetting SAS passwords. • Assisting with problems pertaining to accessing the SAS server(s) or data. • Leveraging and applying experience applying upgrades in the form of hotfixes, services packs and maintenance release upgrades for SAS. • Providing knowledge transfer, mentoring and advice on the efficient administration of the SAS Grid environment. • Troubleshooting basic SAS server issues, such as system access and password problems. • Administering the scheduling of jobs and reports. • Performing basic system administration tasks such as monitoring CPU / RAM / Disk space utilization, port utilization and running processes on applicable OS. • In a logical, scientific manner, troubleshooting SAS-related performance issues by working with Customer’s systems administrators, network administrators, database administrators and/or storage administrators. • Creating, modifying, and maintaining various folder structures within SAS Management Console. • Configuring relevant processes for load balancing and pooling when and where appropriate. • Interfacing with SAS Technical Support related to SAS Grid Administration issues. The consultant must have senior level experience configuring and administering multiple tier SAS environments, including Grid-based environments. *QUALIFICATIONS – ESSENTIAL * · *5+ years of experience overall*, supporting and implementing SAS BI and analytics software suites. · 5 years of experience doing SAS administration. · 3 years of experience administering SAS Grid environment. · Experience installing and configuring SAS software, implementing hotfixes, and software patches. · Experience monitoring and troubleshooting SAS services. · Experience with SAS Management Console – adding identities, defining libraries, setting permissions and access controls, creating metadata folder structures. · Experience with migration of SAS metadata objects from Windows to Linux. · Experience with promotion of metadata objects through the traditional DEV/TEST/PROD lifecycle. · Knowledge and Administration implementation experience with core SAS software, including: o Supporting many users with Foundation SAS/PC SAS/SAS Display Manager and SAS Enterprise Guide. o SAS Office Analytics, including Enterprise Guide and the SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office. o SAS/ACCESS Interface to Hadoop. o SAS/ACCESS to various relational databases including Oracle and Sybase o SAS Enterprise Miner o SAS Text Miner · Experience administering SAS within Linux and Windows OS environments. · Experience with Linux Shell scripting. · Competence in Microsoft Office. *QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED * · Experience in the health insurance Industry preferred, but not required. · Good written and spoken communication skills in English.
