*Position: Systems Engineer*

*Job Description:*

This is a technical position in the IS systems team.  Provides
cross-platform server systems, systems engineering and integration
oversight with strong emphasis on system and network security.  This
includes a large and geographically diverse Windows and Unix/Linux systems
environment supporting critical business and clinical applications (7 x 24
x 365).  Provides 2nd level support for incident management across all
environments.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
specification, design, engineering, configuration, testing, and
implementation of server systems hardware, operating systems, related
subsystems, and security components.  Includes and not limited to standard
server operating systems, clusters and ancillary systems.  Assists with
Cross functional collaboration and coordination.  Identifies, analyzes, and
contributes to design specifications, configures, coordinates, installs,
and tests Sutter Health approved hardware, operating system software,
application programs, and peripheral equipment.

Key to Sutter's business plan, the role of Sutter Health Information
Services is to make electronic data and communications available to Sutter
Health employees, providers and patients to support the health and
well-being of the community, enhance patient care and safety, and improve
business processes and performance. Information Services (IS) key
approaches to meet these needs consist of the Applications,
Telecommunications, Project Management, Web, and Technology. We continue to
review IS optimization across our affiliates, regions and entire enterprise.

*Qualifications*

•          Practical experience in a medium to large organization as
typically acquired in 3 to 5 years.

•          Strong system and network security administration experience
across multiple platforms.

•          Practical knowledge of industry security practices and
applications.

•          Engineering, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support
of a wide range of Microsoft Server platforms.

•          Desired knowledge in Sutter Health approved databases (e.g. DB2,
SQL, Oracle, Cache), server operating systems (e.g. Windows, OS400, AIX,
Linux, VMS), Citrix, technologies for high availability (e.g. HACMP, MS
Clustering, content switching), virtualization (e.g. logical partitioning,
VMWare), provisioning, monitoring and inventory tool sets (e.g. Tivoli, MS
Systems Center, Opsware, BMC), directory services (such as MS active
directory) and messaging / collaboration.

•          Implementing and administrating TCP/IP-based services, including
DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, print services, and other infrastructure
components.

•          Provide daily, weekly, and monthly systems capacity and
performance review and assurance to capacity management for accurate
metrics reporting and Operating Systems.

•          Industry best practice standards in systems operations and
engineering.

•          Work on multiple projects at the same time and deliver quality
service.

•          Good organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple
projects and objectives in a rapidly changing environment.

•          Work independently as well as working in a team environment.

•          Possess strong oral, presentation, and written communication
skills.

•          Articulate technical and user needs in a concise manner and
easily understood by all.

•          Committed to providing exceptional customer service and
responding to user needs in a prompt and courteous manner.

•          Maintain a high energy level and be willing to learn new things.

•          Experience in the following engineering disciplines:
troubleshooting, incident management, and contribute to single point of
failure analysis.

•          Virtualization technologies.

•          Understanding of operational support of SAN and related network
technologies.

•          Experience with change management practices.



*Education/Certification/Licensure:*

A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or the equivalent
combination of education and experience is  desired.
