Description:
This position supports vendor application solutions which provide 
administrative 
support for the University’s research mission. This position is focused 
primarily 
on supporting the daily operations of vendor package solutions, including 
working 
with clients, other ITS departments (DBA/Server Management/Security), and 
vendors. 
This position will work primarily with a veteran member of the team that 
currently 
supports InfoEd’s Proposal Development and Tracking application, and will serve 
as a backup to this member. 
Responsibilities:
1. Support activities to implement and test vendor software patches, bundles, 
and upgrades. Work closely with the vendor, clients, and ITS to help schedule 
and coordinate vendor and ITS activities. 
2. Work with the ITS Infrastructure team to coordinate and schedule activities 
such as database & server clones and code tree refreshes. Also work with them 
to identify and troubleshoot technical issues and problems with applications, 
including but not limited to long-running queries, significant response time 
problems, and record locking conditions. 
3. Work with the ITS Infrastructure team to identify and understand 
application, 
network, and server monitoring. Work with the same group, vendor, and other 
ITS personnel to identify additional monitoring opportunities and assist with 
the implementation of them. 
4. Develop Windows scripts as required. 
5. Develop and run ad-hoc reports and SQL queries to analyze data. 
6. Perform technical and functional impact analysis of vendor patches and 
upgrades 
in the Windows/.NET environment. 
7. Assist with troubleshooting application problems and the resolution of same 
in the Windows/.NET environment. 
8. Configure vendor packages in the Windows/.NET environment. 
9. Some custom application development may be required in the Windows/.NET 
environment.
10. Learn and perform production support activities to provide backup for other 
team members as required. 
11. Position may require off-hours system support. 
Requirements: 
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field and a minimum 
of 15 years’ experience in the support of vendor and custom applications. 
1. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. 
2. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with ITS 
and client personnel, and to provide excellent customer service. 
3. Excellent organizational skills, including keeping track of multiple issues, 
problems, and priorities. 
4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
5. Experience with the .NET framework (ASP.NET, VB.NET), MVC, C#, HTML, 
JavaScript, 
XML, XSLT, SSRS, and SSIS. 
6. Windows script development experience 
7. Experience implementing, managing, and supporting vendor solutions. 
8. Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), and the ability 
to compose SQL scripts and queries. 
9. Experience with Windows server architecture (Windows 2003, 2008), 
application 
server concepts, and the understanding of Windows permissions and Active 
Directory 
10. Experience with ETL tools and technologies (Informatica, Talend, 
WebMethods, 
etc.) 
Preferred, but not required: 
1. Experience with general Web architecture, such as browsers and middle tier 
2. Familiar with consuming Web services and WSDL’s 
3. Familiar with version control systems, such as SVN 
4. Familiar with release management, deployment management, service management, 
and QA processes 
5. Familiar with a variety of technologies and tools, such as HP Deployment 
manager, Hibernate, Visual Studio, Informatica, and OBIEE. 
6. Previous experience working in Research Administration application support 
with vendors such as InfoEd and Click Commerce. 
7. Experience with Oracle Forms, PLSQL, and Java.
