*Responsibilities:*
Operational Oriented Tasks -
• ALU 77xx router support – troubleshoot alarms, primary after hours
contact for *24x7x365 NOC*, support ALU TAC access to systems either
remotely or on-site.
• Primary support for *SAM and RNMS* (monitoring applications), and *SG
TACACS*.
• General oversight of *SG server management*
• Testing of firmware/software configurations on *ALU 77xx routers, Siemens
Tier 2 equipment, RS900/2100/i802 switches, and GX440 modems*.
• Operations primary on-call 1 week in 4-week rotation. Tertiary backup
remaining 3 weeks
• Primary on-call for onsite and remote support of Tier 2 switches
*(RS900/2100/i802
switches) and GX440 cellular modems*
• Primary on-site support for *GarrettCom* routers, both troubleshooting
and new installations.
• Support project engineering as needed when hands-on knowledge of site is
required.
• Update configuration documentation and develop MOP's for vendor
implementation
• Perform tower maintenance tasks as needed.
• Perform spring and fall tower inspections.
• Assist with fiber optic issues when needed.
• Installation of routers, switches, batteries, and rectifiers when
operationally necessary.
• Support RT engineering on equipment installations and refresh; monitoring
impact on SG network.
• Research and development projects as assigned (example: Tier 2 device
authentication and GX440 configuration for multiple transceivers)
• Gather monthly tower generator readings.
• Provide sub-station and tower oversight for BIG Wireless and assorted
vendors (AC tech and generator service primarily) servicing equipment.
• Responsible to deploy *GX440 modems to backhaul AMI/DA* transceivers as
needed.
• Follow up on devices showing alarms *in Grid Observer*
• Support changes to GNOC VPC desktops (application installations and
connectivity issues)
• Generate engineering requests as needed for Nokia GNOC.
• Maintain on-call support schedule
Project Oriented Tasks -
• Upgrade of production router firmware on-site or remotely
• Upgrade of GX440 modem firmware
• Update asset records in Asset Management Toolset
• Install battery and rectifier plants for JMUX expansion project
• Install DWDM battery plants for DWDM project
• Install racks as needed.
• Install 7705 routers for assorted projects and initiatives
• Haul batteries and assorted hardware, delivering them to substation and
tower sites.
• Develop "engineering" solutions to one off installation problems
