*Senior Analytics Architect with traditional BI and big data experience
Walnut Creek, CA / Oakland, CA*
*Skype Interview *
*Duration: 12+ months Contract*
*Responsibilities *
- Building an end-to-end architecture that can involve both traditional
Enterprise Data Warehouse infrastructure as well as Enterprise Data Lake
infrastructure (Hadoop ecosystem)
- Design and development of data related solutions based on
traditional relational databases such as MSFT SQL Server as well as
massively parallel processing systems such as Hadoop (Map Reduce, Pig,
Hive) - building data models, catalogs, ETL and ELT (MSFT SSIS, Sqoop)
- Migrate data from source systems such as mainframe, RDBMS, files
into a data lake solution
- Interview stakeholders, source systems application subject matter
experts, data consumers to formulate a data pipeline process involving a
data lake
- Document reference architecture (blue print) and road-map and
ability to execute (build) the architecture
- Participate in Hadoop capacity planning and sizing strategy
- Build EDW data models (dimensional) as well as Hive/HCatalog
- Set up role-level security plan
- Plan, design and manage enterprise self-service reporting
environment on data visualization tools such as Tableau (served on custom
portals built on JavaScript or .NET)
*Qualifications *
- Expert level understanding of data warehousing components (ETL, OLAP
and OLTP data sets, dimensional modeling, reporting and data
visualization
design and architecture)
- Knowledge in designing/configuring/implementing security, data
model and self-service environments in visualization tools such as Tableau
- Very strong SQL knowledge,
- Excellent communication & inter-personal skills
- Team player and team lead
- Experience with clinical testing a plus
- Solid working experience and knowledge with Windows Server,
networking technologies and VMWare (especially running BI tools and
applications on it)
- Four or more years of experience as well as big data technology
experience (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Sqoop)
- Minimum BS in Comp Sci or related discipline
- Background in gathering business requirements and translating them
into visualizations and specifications
- Deep understanding and experience in leading reporting and
visualization projects for BigData.
- Dealt with security such as Kerberos and other Hadoop security
projects (e.g. Knox, Ranger, HDFS Transparent Encryption, etc.)
- Strong analysis skills
- Certified with one or more Hadoop providers (Cloudera, Hortonworks,
MapR)
- Experience with the following:
- Define strategy for Hadoop ecosystem.
- Define strategy for migration of existing data platform
(RDBMS/Mainframe) to an MPP platform (Hadoop).
- Provide domain perspective on Hadoop ecosystem.
- Work with both technical staff (admins, developers), analysts,
and executive management on strategies and road map for an integrated
BigData platform combining both traditional and modern data
architecture.
- Mentor, develop and train technical staff, users of the Hadoop
ecosystem
- Perform ongoing capacity management forecasts including timing
and budget considerations.
- Coordinate root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to minimize future
system issues.
Work with developers to design scalable and supportable infrastructure.
