*Job Title: Apple Systems Administrator* *Location: Amherst, MA (Central MA)* *Duration: Long Term (Contract to hire)* *H1B’s are also accepted.* *Rate: DOE* Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, IT Computer Classrooms, the Apple Systems Administrator designs, configures, maintains, and supports the computer systems and facilities operated by IT Computer Classrooms across the college campus, including the library that is available to users 24/7. The IT Computer Classrooms team provides access to computers, specialized software, printers, and other peripherals to the large user community of students, faculty and staff. Additionally, the person recommends new technologies, helps plan the future directions of Instructional Innovation and the IT Computer Classrooms group, and leads project implementations. *Examples Of Duties:* 1. Responsible for ensuring reliability and security of the IT Computer Classrooms and Instructional Innovation systems. Must establish, maintain, and document procedures to provide high availability and integrity of these systems. 2. Designs and deploys computer systems and services provided to the university 3. Monitor and manage IT Computer Classroom computer systems and related infrastructure to ensure maximum availability (24/7) and performance of public computer resources. Details include management of Active Directory, Kace/Casper endpoint management, Device Enrollment Program, software image creation, maintenance, and deployment, license and vendor management, and metrics gathering and interpretation. 4. Participate in the planning of both short and long term goals and directions for the IT Computer Classrooms and Instructional Innovation 5. Maintains all Apple hardware, software, and associated network resources in IT Computer Classrooms. Performs hardware maintenance, reconfiguration of equipment, and installation of software resources, including several workgroup server systems. 6. Develops applications and databases for client services, client tracking, information management, and other topics as needed. Responsible for maintenance of such applications and databases. 7. Provides consultation to faculty, staff and students who are using computing technologies for educational, research, and/or administrative purposes, within a distributed computing environment, including desktop and mobile workstation use, networking/Internet, and host 8. Collaborate with staff from other groups within IT to ensure the timely completion of projects. 9. Acts as a mentor to and provides technical supervision of IT Computer Classrooms student consultants who are engaged in the provision of direct front-line consulting services and related tasks which support educational, research, and/or administrative computing needs on the College campus; provides assistance to and guides student staff in the performance of assigned tasks. 10. Cooperates in the development of IT Computer Classrooms support activities and delivery mechanisms; keeps current with policies, procedures, and technological changes across the organization to ensure quality service 11. Make software and hardware recommendations to the Manager, IT Computer Classrooms. This requires staying abreast on current hardware and software technology trends and being able to analyze their usefulness to the organization. 1. Plays an active role in the development and delivery of training programs and materials for IT Computer Classrooms personnel. Cooperates in the development of procedure manuals for IT Computer Classrooms personnel, collecting and organizing resources needed by front-line staff to handle client queries and 2. Develops materials and teaches workshops or seminars for IT on a variety of computing topics, as 3. Regularly lifts moderately heavy equipment. 4. Performs other related tasks as assigned. *Minimum Qualifications:* 1. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an IT field, or an equivalent combination of education and 2. 5+ years cross-platform Systems Administration experience, including 3+ years Apple OS X experience. Windows and UNIX/Linux experience also required. 3+ years Apple OS X Server experience; Windows 2008 R2 server management experience also required. 3. 3+ years’ experience managing large networks of Windows or Mac desktops (150+ nodes preferred) including software image creation and deployment experience. Experience installing, configuring and trouble-shooting a broad array of software applications in a networked environment. 4. Must have experience with Apple OS X authentication, Active Directory authentication experience 5. 3+ years’ experience diagnosing and troubleshooting Apple hardware, including laptops, desktops and 6. Experience in meeting the demands of complex production oriented environments where timeliness and availability of systems is considered critical. Must be able to work effectively to resolve problems under stressful conditions where the rapid restoration of normal operations is critical. 7. Ability to work effectively, in a highly organized manner, paying close attention to detail; accountability and reliability in meeting project deadlines and requirements. 8. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with co-workers and with a broad range of clients which includes faculty, staff and students; ability to work well in a leadership role with 9. Excellent oral and written communications skills required, including the ability to communicate accurately with non- technical individuals on technical topics. Excellent telephone trouble-shooting and consulting skills required. 10. Some off-hour/weekend work will be required to respond to critical system problems and modifications. Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to lift or move bulky equipment or materials weighing up to 60 11. Experience working in a higher education environment preferred *Supervision Received:* Incumbent performs both independently and in cooperation with other IT staff, as directed by Associate Manager, IT Computer Classrooms.
