Job Description:         The selected person will be performing the following 
activities (in no particular order – a work plan will be established once a 
candidate has been selected):


1. Assess Office of Court Administration (OCA)’s network environment and 
provide 
recommendations and work plan with documentation and diagrams.
2. Install, configure, test and deploy the new ASA to replace (upgrade) at the 
Office of Court Administration (OCA).

 Must also be able to:


• Audit Inside/Outside/DMZ ACL Rules
• Apply objects, ACLs and NATs to new unit
• Configure Campus and Remote VPN AnyConnect SSL VPN
• Configure Campus and Remote VPN IPSec VPN
• Configure IPSec Site to Site VPNs
• Uninstall old networking equipment and install new equipment




1. Install and configure the Layer 3 switch modules in the Cisco routers at 
the remote locations.  Must also be able to:


2. Test and build configuration in lab
3. Guide in-house staff on the physical installation of the modules in the 
routers
4. Apply updated configuration to router, verify installation


5. Install, configure, test and deploy the new Cisco ASA/IPS units to replace 
(upgrade) the existing ASA and IPS units at the remote Courts of Appeals 
(COAs). 
This single device will perform both ASA and IPS functions. 


6. Configure and test in a lab setup
7. Install and configure AnyConnect and IPSec VPN
8. Audit NATs and Inside/Outside/DMZ ACL Rules
9. Apply objects, ACLs and NATs to new unit
10. Guide in-house staff on how to unrack the old equipment and rack/cable the 
new ones


11. Re-cable Data Center at OCA.  Must be able to:


12. Remove the old cabling that is running along the edge of the walls and old 
unused cables
13. Apply color code to wiring and label existing and new cables appropriately
14. Run new wiring to each rack, one rack at a time observing color code.
15. Appropriately label port descriptions


16. Migrate OCA users on the 7th floor in the Tom C. Clark building from the 
Core Switch line modules to dedicated switches.  The dedicated switches will 
be uplinked through 10Gb fiber connections like the majority of the campus 
switches are.  Must be able to:


17. Configure new switches as a stack
18. Configure the uplinks to the core switch
19. Move the users on the new switches
20. Label port descriptions accordingly
21. Design, develop and maintain documentation including configuration sheets, 
licenses, and diagrams especially as changes are introduced to the environment.
22. Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally) and prepare 
clearly written documentation on technical matters, in non-technical terms.


23. Refresh Core Switch.  The switch needs to be brought up to current 
specifications 
with new supervisors and line cards.  Must be able to:


24. Review existing core switch configurations
25. Install new supervisor
26. Install new power supply
27. Install new line cards
28. Test and deploy equipment

Requirements            Minimum Skills Requirement in years

Years  Skills/Experience

5         Experience in implementing local and wide area networks.

5         High level of technical competency with Cisco Networking technologies 
including: Core Switching, ASA Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention.

5         Highly complex network engineering work experience, with at least 
2+ years’ participating in the solution design of large network infrastructure 
projects.

5         Implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network 
infrastructure 
devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and 
controllers, and monitoring applications.

5         Experience working with TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VLAN and firewall 
technologies.

4         Experience with Class of Service/Quality of Service configuration 
and administration.

4         Knowledge of Network security protocols: SSL, SSL VPN, IPS.

 

Preferred skill requirements in years

Years  Skills/Experience

5         Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, of 
network operating system and security software, and of performance monitoring 
and capacity management tools.

5         Skill in using logic and reasoning to recommend solutions and give 
pros and cons to all solutions and alternatives.

5         Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve network problems; and
