Duration: 3+ months Rate: market *Position Description* 1. System Design and Build (50%) •Serve as a technical lead for architecture, design and implementation of various back end system components within client. com’s platform. • Provide high level design for new initiatives touching given subsystem including project sizing. • Evaluate tuning and optimization concerns of applications and systems. • Work with the team members to influence overall software strategy and direction in Backend Systems. • Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements. Design appropriate solutions and recommend alternative approaches when necessary. • Explore new technology and drive innovation within the team • Lead and mentor team members. • Recommend and implement engineering best practices. • Collaborate, communicate with different teams, and triage technical issues across teams. • Extremely focused on delivering high quality, defect free solutions 2. Research and Innovation (25%) • Research technology trends and apply the results to solve business problems • Develop solution prototype and be able to demonstrate value proposition of the solutions to a wide audience 3. Partnership with business (15%) • Collaborate with product and project managers as well as business to define product features, architectural deliverables and project estimates • Work closely with business partners to identify business needs and ensure that system improvements answer the needs of the business • Support Business requests for investigation and analysis 4. Ongoing Support and Maintenance (10%) • Perform application tuning • Provide support in troubleshooting / investigations • Respond quickly to critical requests • Provide 24/7support, with a one-week on-call rotation every few weeks • Perform Data analysis *Minimum Qualifications* * * REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Competencies: Skills, knowledge, & abilities Functional Competencies: • Excellent grasp of the relational data model • Deep knowledge of Oracle RDBMS ,excellent data modeling, debugging and tuning skills • Excellent PL/SQL programming skills • Comprehensive SDLC experience including: o Strong design and data modeling skills o Agile implementation principles and practices o Use of version control management such of SVN, CVS, Clearcase, or perforce. o Production environment deployment and maintenance • Experience in similar roles at prominent Internet companies, with detailed knowledge about scaling issues and solutions • Ability to work in an unstructured, fast-paced environment • Ability to gather, synthesize and drive resolution of projects from a cross-functional team. • Ability to work with business users, product managers, QA, Release, and UI and Platform Engineering teams to develop great e-commerce applications • Understanding of Supply Chain inbound and outbound processes and workflows • Reasonable familiarity with Java • Good understanding of SOA, Web Services and ESB.
