*_Azure SQL Server DBA, 6+ months, Raleigh, NC. • Design and Implementation of Microsoft SQL Server Databases • Provide primary DBA support for establishing, upgrading and maintaining the RDBMS software environments. • Implement backup and recovery procedures for databases and test regularly in conjunction with Operations. • In conjunction with the security administrator, establish and manage user access, and design and implement user environments. • Create, maintain and refresh required instances/databases for development, test and production environments. • As required, help resolve application problems. • Monitor error log(s), database and log space, user activity and resource utilization of production environment. • Work with application programmers to insure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations. • Monitor system resources of database servers to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled in a timely fashion. • Provide after hours on-call support for critical database issues as a Tier3 level on a rotational basis if necessary. Development, Tuning & Diagnostics: • Provide expert assistance in setting up instances, Databases, tables, indices and views. • In conjunction with programmer/analysts, define new objects or modifications to existing objects. • Provide expert assistance in SQL statement tuning to improve performance. This includes, but is not limited to, re-writing SQL statements, creating new indexes and altering existing indexes. • Using software packages and/or local scripts, monitor performance, space, database parameters and tune as required. Planning & Implementation: • Install, upgrade and maintain Microsoft SQL software products/versions for DBMS, server software and various tools software as appropriate for the project. • Following standards, write, maintain and document scripts needed in support of applications. • Monitor disk usage; plan acquisition and replacement of disk devices as needed. • Act as project liaison and coordinate with system administrators for application of OS patches and maintenance required for database servers. •DBA Experienced with SQL Server 2012 ,2014 and 2016 in High Availability configurations using AlwaysON •Ability to rapidly and accurately diagnose unexpected database performance issues. Senior DBA Level experience with Performance tuning at the Database and Application Level •Senior Level Technical Problem Solving / Troubleshooting Skills •Detailed knowledge of SQL Server internals, database design, T-SQL, database mirroring, log shipping, replication, and backup/restore operations •Hands on experience with Large Terabyte Size databases. •Effective verbal and written communication skills •Database Partitioning •Deployment and upgrade of SQL Server engine & clients •Advanced level Experience with DTS, SSIS Packages, T-SQL, SQL Reporting Services, Analysis Services, stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints , cursors and power shell •Logical and Physical database design, performance, scalability and tuning reviews/assessments (DB and SQL tuning), and query monitoring •Experience with all types of SQL Replication technologies •Hands on experience with Backup recovery, high availability/ SQL Cluster technology •Ability to provide configuration, monitoring and on-call support for development, test, and production environments •SQL Monitoring Tools like Quest or Idera for SQL •Knowledge and experience with SQL Server memory management and the differences between editions and platforms (32bit and 64bit) •Windows operating system knowledge as it pertains to SQL databases, server performance and security •Fundamental network concepts •Security models as they pertain to various SQL database/server deployments •Working Knowledge of Veritas Netbackup or Commvault with SQL Working Knowledge of Microsoft Azure SQL Server implementation Hands on experience with using SAN storage for the SQL Server Databases In addition to the Cloud Engineering Skills, The Azure DBA should have the following skills. Planning and deploying Azure SQL Database, Implementing and managing Azure SQL Database Managing Azure SQL Database security Monitoring Azure SQL Database Managing Azure SQL Database business continuity Migrating a Microsoft SQL Server database to Azure SQL Database Identify relational database services in Microsoft Azure. Provision, configure, and manage the Azure SQL Database data-management service.
