Title: Oracle DBA Duration: 3 months with possible extension
Rate: Market The focus of this position is Oracle RAC work. Candidates must have multiple implementations under their belts. Must have excellent communication skills. Prefer local candidates or local to west coast or candidate who can attend in person after telephonic round. Position Summary Senior team member with responsibility for distributed/embedded database product design and logical and physical data models for application software products, performance tuning and optimization. Work under the general direction of management and work with independence and discretion regarding how to execute on the product roadmap. Initiate new projects and help plan future activities. Skills & Experience • 8 years prior development experience with design and implementation of products with distributed/embedded database sub-systems. • Hands-on experience with data modeling for Oracle VLDB systems required. • Hands-on Oracle SQL, PL/SQL experience required. • Hands-on Oracle operational database tuning experience required. • Hands-on experience with debuggers and crash dump analysis tools required. • Hands-on experience with source-code control systems and bug tracking systems required. • Hands-on experience with code coverage and profiling tools required. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Effective time management. • In-depth working knowledge of 5 or more of the following technology areas: o Complex database centric software application development. o Java, VB, VB.NET, C or C++ and ODBC/JDBC development experience. o Expert SQL and PL/SQL skills in OLAP and OLTP environments. o Server side application design including HTML, XML, SOAP, HTTP, Perl. o Construction of physical data models from logical data models. o Experience with configuration, partitioning, load balancing, backup/recovery, sizing and space management, materialized views and snapshots for VLDB Analytical databases. o Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g Database Administration experience. o Expert level understanding and experience with Database and SQL/PLSQL performance tuning. Strong understanding of Oracle internals such as Waits, Latches, Locks, Memory and table /index storage. o Multi-threaded and distributed programming models. Experience with the following a plus: • Oracle Database Administration certification. • Cable centric experience including DOCSIS, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. • Networking and network management protocols including TCP/IP, SNMP.
