Business Analyst Location: Cincinnati, OH Start: ASAP Duration: 3 months CTH (3 months - long term. Responsibilities: Exhibits strong business knowledge of insurance and experience of working as a BA in that industry. Leads requirements gathering sessions with business unit and end user; documents end user requirements for data, data quality, reports and analysis, and training. Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business solutions and business requirements: a) analyzes, identifies and writes detailed description of user requirements, program functions, and tasks required to develop or modify computer programs b) makes recommendations for business process improvements with a thorough understanding of business and technical problems and solutions as they relate to the technology needs. c) acts as a liaison between business and IT. Develops and maintains knowledge of customer's business. Formulates system modifications or alternative systems that achieve the overall business strategies. Performs data quality testing and debugging during various stages of project life cycle. Creates and tests ad hoc reports. Updates process documentation; learns new tools. Assists with the design and implementation of operational and system enhancements to ensure production capabilities and system performance are both effective and efficient. Prepares analysis and associated documentation for production support of systems and applications. Exhibits strong business knowledge and builds strong customer relationships. Leads small to moderately complex projects. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills: Experience with Requirements Management tool (i.e., IBM DOORS) Experience with XML editor, a plus Knowledge of data models, a plus Commercial Insurance exp in IT, a plus Experienced knowledge of reporting tools and databases Strong knowledge of business information data sources and business data rules 5 or more years of related experience that includes experience in designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and/or maintaining applications; or configuring and using application software in a business setting required.
