Hadoop Administrator Location: Vernon Hills, IL Duration: 6 months Need Visa Copy & Dl Copy Role Overview Hadoop Administrator will responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining multiple Hadoop clusters at client. As a Big Data Administrator you will work with development teams to optimize different Hadoop services and deploy and code in to multiple environment. Responsibilities § Serve as the subject matter expert for Hadoop ecosystem. § Installation of Hadoop ecosystem. § Applying security (Kerberos / Open Ldap) linking with Active Directory and/or LDAP. § Onboarding users to use Hadoop – configuration, access control, disk quota, permissions etc. § Work with vendor (Hortonworks) on all issues, apply upgrades and security patches. § Commission/de-commission nodes backup and restore § Monitor the cluster – jobs, performance and fine-tune when necessary. § Maintain, support, and upgrade Hadoop clusters. § Automate common maintenance and installation mechanisms. § Monitor jobs and other hardware/internal aspects of the cluster. § Back up key databases and configuration § Partner with Hadoop developers and architects to enable the business § Perform common Linux administration tasks § Work closely with key IT and business roles to determine the best solutions. § Work closely with the existing BI team to bridge current ecosystem with next generation ecosystem. Qualifications § Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field. § 8+ years overall IT experience implementing and administering enterprise grade solutions. § 5+ years Unix/Linux administration experience. • 5+ years in big data solutions using open source technologies like Hadoop, R, Python, etc. • Experience with large scale Hadoop environments build and support including design, capacity planning, cluster set up, performance tuning and monitoring • Exposure to: Apache NiFi, Hadoop (Hortonworks preferred), Kafka, ElasticSearch, Java (experience supporting, with tuning and stability experience preferred). • Strong understanding of Hadoop eco system such as HDFS, MapReduce, Hadoop streaming, Sqoop, oozie and Hive • Deep understanding and experience with Horton Works Hadoop stack • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity practice in Hadoop stack • Experience in installing, administering, and supporting Linux operating systems and hardware in an enterprise environment • Expertise in typical system administration and programming skills such as storage capacity management, performance tuning. • Proficient in shell and perl, python scripting • Experience in setup, configuration and management of security for Hadoop clusters. • Experience in automated cluster node provisioning and repetitive tasks. • High adaptability to work in structured and unstructured situations.
