Candidate requires in depth knowledge of all aspects of the Oracle
environment on the Windows platform.  Successful candidate shall be able to
build, troubleshoot, monitor and maintain SQL Server and Oracle databases in
a 24x7 environment with minimum downtime.  Emphasis will be on upgrade
activities.  5 + years experience is a must.



Oracle versions 9, 10, 11.



SQL Server and Oracle RAC experience would be a plus; supporting Oracle on
Windows at a large corporation would be a plus.

 Education

BS in computer science / information systems or equivalent.

 Experience:

5+ years as Sr DBA.

10+ years overall DBA experience.

Platform/Technology specific knowledge.



*Basic Function: *

Under general supervision, performs Database installations, upgrades and
patches following established guidelines. Performs database tuning and
troubleshooting.  Monitors databases backups and availability and
performance 24/7 where needed. Job requires interfacing with several other
technical groups on a variety of technical subjects. Position has indirect
impact on viability of the organization.  Skills are typically acquired
through an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent work
experience, plus minimum of 10 years related experience in a database
environment. Working hours might extend after hours or into weekends as
needed.



Oracle Systems DBA work on Oracle 9, 10, 11 – including upgrades/migrations



Under supervision of the Global Database Manager contract Sr System. DBA
will be responsible for filling in for day to day operations in a Global DBA
group while the regular DBA’s will be tasked with upgrade and migration
tasks.



*Tasks will include but are not limited to: *

Installations

Rebuilds

Tuning

Data movement

Recovery

RAC operations

Client software installation/maintenance

Grid Control operations

Job scheduling

Backup report checking & break/fix



*Duties:*

Performs Database installations, upgrades, and patches following
established company policies and procedures while communicating effectively
with the stakeholders. Some planning in collaboration with the principal
DBA.

Performs Database monitoring and tuning in coordination with the DBA and
Application support teams. Assists the principal DBA with architecting this
environment.

Assists the DBA team in maintaining the backup environment for all the
database platforms in use. This includes but is not limited to creating
backup scripts, testing, scheduling production backups and doing regular
backup report checks. Interfacing with the Application teams and
communicating backup schedules is an integral component of this duty.

Assists in working with Architectural and Operations teams on new version
and architecture testing.

Assists in setting up, maintaining and testing the Disaster Recovery
processes and procedures for the database platforms in use.

Assists with Audit related tasks under direct supervision of the DBA
manager and internal Auditing.

Assists in setting up and maintaining web layer components as they relate
to the Database environment while following established processes and
procedures.

Assist with maintaining the DBA infrastructure layer, including reporting,
accounting tracking, and troubleshooting.

Collaborates with other technical groups on new technologies and projects
impacting the Database environment.



*Qualifications:*

 Education

BS in computer science / information systems or equivalent.



*Experience:*

5+ years as Sr DBA.

10+ years overall DBA experience.

Platform/Technology specific knowledge.



*Skills:*

Advanced analytical skills.

Strong project planning and management skills, including comfort in making
operational decisions, monitoring progress, taking corrective action and
reporting results.

Good leadership, negotiation and mentoring abilities.

Excellent organizational skills, as well as excellent written, oral and
presentational communication abilities in order to work with immediate
levels of staff and management.

Ability to work independently and keep management adequately informed.

Strong knowledge of systems and business processes.

Knowledge of data processing including a high-end (general) technical
knowledge of hardware, software, databases and database technology.

Demonstrated ability to work in matrix team environments, including strong
stakeholder interface capability.
