Programmers typically are involved in maintenance (including production support), enhancement & development work. *Complete Description: * Client is in need of a highly experienced PL/SQL and .NET programmer / architect resource to work with the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) on the PA-National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (PA-NEDSS) project team to assist in the transition of the system from contracted staff to BIT. The Client/BIT is in the process of assuming the duties of the incumbent contractor for supporting and adding new functionality to this complex enterprise system. Thus BIT requires a resource with an expertise in PL/SQL and .NET programming and architecture to assist in the process of understanding the current system, documenting this information, providing best practice recommendations in PL/SQL and .NET, and mentoring this knowledge to current and/or new BIT development staff. Tasks to be accomplished: - Understand the inner workings of the PA-NEDSS Transactional and batch PL/SQL code - Review and learn the Transactional database design and implementation - Provide maintenance and support of the Transactional and batch PL/SQL - Review and learn the PA-NEDSS Transactional application, .Net code in ASP.Net page code-behinds, business log classes, and data access components - Provide maintenance and support of all PA-NEDSS .Net code - Provide mentoring BIT developers on PA-NEDSS PL/SQL and .Net components - Review selected documentation of the system to become familiar with the system requirements, functionality, and architecture - Profile and tune selected pieces of the system for better maintainability and performance as necessary - Provide assistance as required for the transfer of knowledge from the current PA-NEDSS contractor to Commonwealth IT staff - Aid in production deployments of system components - Aid in troubleshooting system defects and performance issues - Provide weekly status updates to BIT project manager This engagement will consist of 40-hour work weeks.
