We are looking for *Unix System Admins* for a * Contract* or a *Contract to Hire* position with our direct client in *Colorado Springs, CO* *Position: UNIX System Administrator* *Location: Colorado Springs, CO* *Duration: 6 – 12+ months* *Mandatory Skills:* • *Red Hat Enterprise Linux* *4*, *Solaris, WINDOWS, NetAPPS, Ontap 7.x OS for Network Appliance File Servers, NIS, some familiarity with the EDA environment* * Work Description:* • Provide primary server and desktop support for all UNIX/Linux and WINDOWS systems at the site. * * *Specific projects:* · Upgrading servers from *Red Hat 4.6 to Red Hat 4.8* · Data reorganization on the *NetApp FAS2040, Mandatory* · Creation of design directories with Qtrees on the NetApp · Support the backup of design data · Monitoring of filers and servers using Nagios · Merging of the NIS domains · Setting up Linux NIS and DNS masters and slaves · Supporting LSF load balancing software and FlexLM license server *System administration tasks include* · Installation, support and maintenance of RedHat Linux servers and workstations; · WINDOWS desktops, Solaris and HP-UX servers · Troubleshooting all aspects of the Linux operating environment · Management of file systems and disk devices, especially Network Attached Storage (NAS) from Network Appliance. · Configuration and support of printers and plotters using CUPS · *UNIX Scripting* (Csh, Bash, Perl) · Network configuration and administration: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NIS · System and network performance monitoring and tuning. IO monitoring andanalysis. · System security – SSH, Firewalls, Intrusion analysis · Support for Open Office and Thunderbird mail client · Support for WINDOWS in a VMWare virtual machine on Linux · Package management, user and group management, and Kickstart installations. · Must provide 7x24 on call support for the local site. · Other tasks include support for the sites in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. *Job Specification (Specific Knowledge and Skills required for this position):* We prefer a candidate, who has worked in the semiconductor industry, and is familiar with the EDA environment, especially EDA tools from Cadence, Mentor and Synopsys. * * * Technical knowledge in the following areas:* • Red Hat Linux (RHEL4) • Solaris • HP-UX • WINDOWS 2000 & XP • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory • NFS administration, Network Attached Storage • Knowledge of Network Appliance file server administration • Network administration – TCP/IP, DNS, NIS • Printer configuration using CUPS • Knowledge of VMWare workstation and ESX server, Open Office and Thunderbird email client • Shell and Perl scripting • Knowledge of Nagios system & network monitoring tool and Cfengine system • configuration management tool is a plus • Knowledge of LSF load balancing environment and FLEX license management environment is a Plus • Excellent troubleshooting skills • Excellent communication and documentation skills • Excellent customer skills * * * Work Direction/Management Scope:* • Day to day system monitoring and system support. • Interface daily with manager & directors. • Write weekly reports, create metrics and project plans. • Participate in group/customer meetings. • Be able to exercise judgment in resolving problems and making decisions • Candidate should be a self motivator * * *Education and Experience:* • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. • Minimum 5 years experience in designing, implementing, and administering Linux systems in • EDA environments.
