*Title:                     Lead Database Administrator/Architect*

*Location:             Mt Laurel, NJ*

*Duration:             6 months with likely extension*



Qualifications:

BS or BA degree preferred. (Preferably in Computer Science or Business)
*10 years* of varied database consulting and design experience, 3 years
using the databases the enterprise uses (previous hands on experience with
Oracle, SQL and Sybase preferred)
Exposure to system internals; strong analytical and problem solving skills
are essential
Knowledge of database platforms
Knowledge of relational database technology, transaction processing and data
warehouse design and advanced modeling and design tools
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and
in writing

Requires excellent communication, presentation, organizational, project
management and teamwork skills
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with
varying degrees of technical experience



*Job Description*

The *Lead DBA/Architect* provides advanced technical support in the
research, experimentation, business analysis, and use of systems technology
including architecture, integration capabilities, and data base management.
Collaborates on setting and implementing standards for development,
maintenance and performance of staff for IT activities. Implement project
and maintenance tasks that required a high level of technical knowledge to
support the definition and design of technical activities while providing
advanced technical assistance to technical team members, users and external
customers as appropriate. Implement project plans, maintenance activities
and client/user contacts to assure satisfaction of service level agreements
and evaluation of performance. Assists the Database Manager in assuring that
project tasks are managed on time and on budget according to service level
expectations. Database administrative responsibilities include
configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, trouble shooting
and physical database design. Data analyst responsibilities include
consulting with the business to determine logical and physical database
designs for new business solutions, data architecture design and
maintenance, coordinating, leading and supporting project teams in the
development of enterprise systems.

• Provides senior technical leadership to Information Management team
members, application development teams and the enterprise including being
conversant with and cognizant of the future direction of systems, how that
direction will impact the enterprise, and how future and current systems can
be exploited for the benefit of the enterprise
• Works closely with the Information Management team and other IT groups to
coordinate current and future plans and activities including coordination
and technical assistance to facilitate specific development projects that
involve the computing environment, the coordination of software upgrades and
the installation of new products.
• Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and
procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed,
especially regarding future business expansion.
• Stays current with database technologies and better practices for managing
information in order to provide appropriate business solutions
• Keeps current on assessments of technology for the business.
• Performs at or above the enterprise Information Technology performance
standards.
• Mentors less experienced Information Management team members in data
architecture and database administration roles and responsibilities

*Some of the Data Analyst responsibilities will include:*
• Consulting with the business to determine logical design for new business
solutions according to data architecture.
• Coordinating with database administrators the physical construction of
databases for projects and maintenance activities.
• Consulting with the lead data architect for compliance to enterprise data
design and maintenance.
• Coordinating and leads data activities in support of projects in the
development of enterprise systems.
• Developing, maintaining and approving data models for large applications.
• Defining data architectural guidelines and standards and ensures that they
are followed

*Some of the DBA responsibilities will include:*
• Translating the logical design to a physical design and implemented
database.
• Performing database tuning and performance at a server and database level.
• Providing required data integrity and recoverability for the business.
• Setting standards and controls the necessary infrastructure process
associated with the database(s) of the enterprise.
• Assisting in troubleshooting and technical system support for the
application development group including.
• Providing weekly and monthly reports on system problems and their
solutions, as well as assisting in forecasts of future utilization and
equipment requirements.
• Providing technical evaluations and recommendations for all architecture
issues (data, hardware, application design, etc.)
• Leading and or participates in proof of concept activities when acquiring
new products, which includes testing, evaluating, interact with vendors,
documenting and recommending new products

*Direction of Others/Direction Received:*
• Assisting in all of the activities of the information management group
including database design, data dictionary management, system management,
system programming, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinating with the personnel of the data management, application
development and distributed systems groups.
• Providing technical leadership to IT and the enterprise, especially on
issues relating to future Information Technology modernization and/or
expansion and Data Architecture directions and transitions.

*Contacts External/Internal:*
This position requires contact with applications and technical support
personnel from computer hardware and software companies. Within the
enterprise, contacts will be made with the help desk, with application and
operations staff and with enterprise personnel outside of IT for
troubleshooting and the development of specifications.
