Position: UNIX Administrator Location: Austin, TX Duration: 3 months + Client: Department of Health & Human Service Commission / State of TX All work products resulting from the project shall be considered “works made for hire” and are the property of the HHSC. HHSC may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Workers) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by the Texas law. HHSC will pay no fees for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a Worker(s). Work involves assigning, supervising and auditing the work of vendors to ensure proper installation and configuration of servers, security configurations and critical OS patching in the implementation of a new Disaster Recovery Datacenter. Also required is installation, maintenance and modifications of monitoring software, and responding to end-user requests for assistance and modifications to the computing environment. Project work will involve the build out and implementation of a Disaster Recovery Data Center and Decommissioning of an existing Data Center. Working with multiple teams and vendors, ensure system build outs and setups are completed as per the plan. Owner & Group Privileges of Data is correctly configured during the installation of the Production & Development Data centers. Ensuring that all NAS and SAN volumes are mounted correctly to systems and not-allowed to unauthorized systems. Working with teams to ensure sudo access is granted to systems. Testing for Security violations across Solaris Systems, NAS Mounts, and File Transfers. Identifying potential bottlenecks and Infrastructure related problems of the new Data Center. Additional duties include working with Teams to Ensure that their Solaris Environments are configured and tuned to allow for optimal performance to include container configurations, projects configuration, startup and shutdown scripts, kernel and network parameter settings. Assisting with DNS and working with vendors for SAN and NAS storage requests. Schedule planned outages between application, tools and development teams for hardware or software maintenance. Attend regular scheduled planning and change approval meetings. Monitor, analyze and troubleshoot computer servers to minimize system downtime to ensure ability to provide direct client services. Performs complex analysis to diagnose system problems, trends, determine necessary corrective action. Install and configure monitoring tools: Hobbit (Xymon), CA Wily Introscope, Precise I3, Splunk, and other tools. II.
