PLS NOTE THIS IS A 1 MONTH+ CONTRACT *Request:* This mainframe migration project requirement is to provide shared access to *VSAM files* on the mainframe from migrated applications running on Tux. The current approach under consideration is to use *Oracle Transparent Gateway (OTG) for VSAM access*. This enables a logical view of VSAM records in Oracle tables and read/update access to the *VSAM data on the mainframe via Oracle DB*. In the initial APDSD applications there’s a single VSAM file called Baby.Sitter that requires this remote access, however in follow on applications a number of additional VSAM files may need to be shared in the same manner. 1. Install and configure *OTG components on Linux* and on the mainframe, ensure proper connectivity and operations 2. Map each required VSAM file to Oracle table (OTG provides a studio for that) 3. Enable migrated applications to access the Oracle table representation without code changes: a. Perform VSAM-to-Oracle data schema migration using ART WB, which generates appropriate Oracle DDL and data access modules used in the runtime to mediate between COBOL applications doing VSAM operations and SQL access in Oracle DB, and automatically replaces VSAM access with calls to relevant data access routines b.
